This full-day Patagonia tour combines river kayaking and guided hiking in a remote steppe landscape near El Calafate. The trip begins with a morning hotel pickup and travels into the Patagonian plains to Rio La Leona, one of the most scenic rivers in southern Patagonia. Paddle 14 km along glacial waters framed by plains and open skies. The adventure continues with a guided hike of 5 km at Los Hornos Mount, one of the oldest geological formations in the region. Walk past trees, rock layers, and fossil remains that reveal the origins of Patagonian geography. This experience highlights strong contrasts between river, steppe, and ancient landforms.

This full-day tour allows you to discover two unique attractions in Patagonia. Explore Rio La Leona, one of the most scenic rivers in the Patagonian steppe, as well as Los Hornos Mount, one of the oldest formations in the world! Take in the contrasting sights of the ocher steppe with the turquoise glacial waters as you paddle and hike through this wild landscape. Witness the beginnings of Patagonian geography as you pass by petrified trees and bones of Los Hornos Mount. This is a day trip that truly gives unique experiences to add to your Patagonia travels.
Travelers will be picked up at their hotel around 7:30 AM and dropped off around 4:30 PM. Transfers from/to the El Calafate airport can also be arranged. A snack will be included during the excursion.

Beyond expectations! Then again we weren't sure what to expect. Lovely stay at the lodge, met other like-minded travelers (many had their trips planned by Adventure Life) and the owner was a gracious hostess. It felt like you were one happy family, visiting with a favorite aunt.
