Day 1: Hike to Laguna Torre

  • 1 Lunch
Begin the day by meeting the tour guide at the hotel for a hike to Laguna Torre which connects to Las Mountain Pass at Agachonas. The trail starts with a challenging 9 km ascent, but the reward is a stunning view of a glacial valley filled with lenga trees leading to Laguna Torre, the glacier, and Cerro Torre. Enjoy a box lunch before crossing the Fitz Roy River on a zip line and starting the 800-meter climb to Via Agachonas mountain pass. The most breathtaking views of Cerro Torre and the Grande Glacier await you. The highlight of the trip is the Pliegue Tumbado Hill, which rises above the valleys and offers unparalleled panoramic views of Mt. Huemul, Lake Viedma, and Mt. Chaltén and Torre. On the way back to El Chalten, the trail passes through a beautiful forest, followed by bushes and stunted flora. Keep an eye out for marine fossils among the stones.

Duration: 12 hours approx.
Elevation gain: 1100m
Total distance: 25km
Difficulty: Difficult. Requires trekking experience.
Suggested equipment: Waterproof high-top trekking shoes, waterproof clothing, and coats/gloves.

Everything was amazing! The planning with Adventure Life went smoothly. The actual trip was fantastic! One of the best trips I have experienced. The cruise staff members were knowledgeable and attentive. I will be writing more about this on the blog!
