Day 1: Creston Glacier

  • 1 Lunch
Before the excursion, a brief discussion is held with the guide to review the specifics and the necessary equipment for the adventure planned for the next day. On the day of the activity, a private transfer will pick you up in the morning from the hotel in El Chaltén and take you to the meeting point. You will then walk with the guide for about 40 minutes until you reach the refuge, where a hot drink will be provided. Following a 20-minute walk through the dense lenga forest, you will be amazed by the stunning views of the glacier and Crestón hill.

The most challenging section of the hike is encountered here, where you depart from the vegetation and cross over a large rock formation that has been eroded by the glacier. Upon completing the two-hour hike, you will arrive at the front of the glacier. A stop will be made to don the appropriate gear for walking on the glacier. The trek to the glacier is subject to the weather and the physical condition of the travelers. After enjoying a box lunch, you will return to the refuge and then back to El Chalten.

This was our first trip to South America and we were a little nervous. But Adventure Life made things so easy! All our questions were answered before we left, and our guide, Vidal, was amazing! He gave us enough space to explore without rushing us along. He also knew where the best picture taking opportunities were, which was great.
