Depart from Lund Harbour at 3:00 PM aboard the covered water taxi for a scenic journey through Desolation Sound to Klahoose Wilderness Resort.
At Klahoose Wilderness Resort, you are greeted on land with a traditional welcome according to a long-standing custom. Hospitality is extended with care, ensuring you feel nourished and comfortable throughout your stay. At the same time, the stories, images, place names, and language will be shared here, carry deep meaning, and belong to the cultural interpreters and the qaymɩxʷ community. During this customary greeting and procedure, visitors are urged to stop, reflect, and honor the sacred values.
After the traditional welcome, a resort orientation was followed by a welcome drink. Light snacks will be available before dinner. Dinner will be a set menu, followed by a briefing on the next day’s activities and an evening of cultural sharing, which may include storytelling, wood carving, and cedar weaving.
After breakfast, embark on a scenic one-hour journey by covered boat, passing the stunning waterfalls of Toba Inlet and watching for marine life along the way. Upon arrival at the dock in Toba Inlet, take a brief bus ride to the secluded bear viewing platforms, nestled in the temperate rainforest of the Toba Valley, overlooking the glacier-blue waters of a remote river deep in Klahoose Territory.
The knowledgeable Klahoose guides will spend approximately three hours getting as close as possible to the majestic grizzly bears while ensuring your safety and the bears' respect. From the fixed platforms, take the rare opportunity to observe these incredible animals in their natural habitat.
Enjoy social hour with snacks before dinner, followed by another evening of cultural connections and conversation.
After breakfast, set out for a second day of grizzly bear viewing in Toba Inlet. Each day brings new encounters, and as you travel by boat, keep watch for marine life such as humpback whales, dolphins, and orcas moving through the fjords. Spend unhurried time observing the grizzlies along the river as they feed on salmon, their power and presence offering an unforgettable connection to the wild.
Upon return to the resort, the afternoon invites rest and reflection before gathering for social hour. A set dinner follows, prepared with fresh local flavors, and the evening concludes with cultural sharing, stories, traditions, and insights that deepen your understanding of this sacred coast.
After a leisurely breakfast, the day is yours to fully embrace the peaceful surroundings of Klahoose Wilderness Resort. Take your time discovering all that the resort has to offer. You may choose to relax by the waterfront, paddle along the tranquil coastline in a kayak, or venture on a hike through the lush forests. The wood-fired sauna is available for a rejuvenating experience, or you may opt for a refreshing swim in the ocean.
For those seeking a deeper connection with nature or more activity, consider a short nature hike or a longer walk to a grove of old-growth trees. Enjoy quiet moments of reflection or explore the resort’s sustainable micro-hydro system. Today, any optional tours can also be taken into consideration, such as fishing charters with certified fishing guides in their boats and helicopter trips to the neighboring coastal mountains.
In the evening, join for a golden hour gathering, where guests can come together, share stories, and reflect on their experiences before enjoying a final dinner followed by an evening of cultural sharing, including a cedar-brushing off and smudging ceremony.

Good to ideal period to travel, and many people choose to visit at this time.
Typically not offered during this period because of weather conditions.
Our guide and driver were very good with their knowledge and were very helpful with our questions. It was a very pleasant visit that would have been impossible to do on our own. Hotels and restaurants were fantastic. The special places we got to go to, like the kitchens, were great. Enjoyed the entire trip!
