Winter Season: November - March
Winters on British Columbia’s west coast are mild, with brief snowfalls that quickly melt away, revealing the natural beauty of the season. Due to the micro-hydro power system, the off-grid Klahoose Wilderness Resort is closed during the winter, but the area remains stunning. After spending the winter at their breeding grounds in Mexico and Hawaii, humpback whales return to the waters by March. Winter daytime temperatures range from 1 to 7°C (33-44°F), providing a peaceful and scenic experience along the BC coast.
Spring Season: April - June
Spring on the Pacific Coast offers breathtaking scenery with lush rainforests, waterfalls, and snow-capped mountains. The resort opens in May, an ideal time for wildlife enthusiasts, with grizzly and black bears feeding along the shoreline, humpback whales, and migrating birds in winter plumage. You can also spot large sea lions before they head to breeding grounds in Alaska and California. Daytime temperatures range from 7 to 18°C (44-65°F), making spring ideal for outdoor exploration and wildlife viewing.
Summer Season: July - August
Summer at Klahoose Wilderness Resort unfolds in abundance, with endless daylight illuminating the coast. Rainforests glow in vivid green, rugged shorelines frame sparkling waters, and wildlife gather in remarkable numbers. This is the height of whale season, when orcas and humpbacks travel the fjords alongside porpoises, seals, and soaring eagles. Mild temperatures between 13 and 22°C (55 and 72°F) set the stage for adventure; paddle calm waters by kayak, dive into the ocean for a refreshing swim, or wander cedar-scented trails draped in moss. As the sun dips, the sky burns with color before giving way to a quiet, star-filled night. At Klahoose, summer blends adventure and serenity, offering the coast’s wild beauty at its most radiant.
Fall Season: September - October
At Klahoose Wilderness Resort, the famous salmon run up Toba Inlet begins in the fall, bringing grizzly bears to the rivers for a salmon feast that has been a part of Klahoose culture for centuries. Guided grizzly bear viewing from the special fixed platforms is available to guests who are visiting in the fall, providing a unique chance to get up close and personal with these magnificent creatures.
