Crossing the Atlantic in a traditional tall ship is an experience that leaves a lasting impression. For 18 days your exact course is determined only by the elements. When the crew sets the sails at dizzying heights, and the wind is caught in the sailcloth and the ropes creak as they are stretched tight, experience a tangible sense of freedom. Great adventures do not always mean great effort; on this once-in-a-lifetime experience the ship sets sail westwards across the Atlantic, always heading towards a magnificent sunset. Sit back and relax, surrounded by vast horizons and looked after by an attentive crew as you leave your everyday stress behind in no time at all.

With its black volcano almost 2,000 meters (6,561 feet) high and endless white beaches along the coastline, the island of Gran Canaria displays a huge variety of landscapes. It's a "continent in miniature" with rugged rock formations, dense pine forests, dry valleys and reservoirs in the interior, lush vegetation in the north, shimmering dune landscapes in the south, and weirdly shaped cliffs in the west. Almost half the island has been registered by UNESCO as a Biosphere Reserve. The capital, Las Palmas, is no less colorful, with its port and history stretching back 500 years. The showpiece of this historic old town is the magnificent Santa Ana Cathedral.
Enjoy these days offshore, relaxing and taking in the smell of the fresh ocean breeze up on deck.
Day 18: Willemstad, Curacao | Disembark
1 Breakfast
Curaçao, alphabetically the last of the ABC, is the largest in the Netherlands Antilles in terms of land area. The neat capital, Willemstad, a trading post for the Dutch West India Company in the 17th century, with its well-preserved colonial architecture, is a UNESCO World Heritage Site. The picturesque location of the wide harbor canal, boulevards with beautifully restored facades, and colorful, typically Dutch gabled houses make Willemstad a lively "Little Amsterdam", in the bright Caribbean light, beneath palm trees, with azure bays and pearl-white beaches. Disembark and return home individually.

The trip might have been the absolute best of our lifetime (thus far). We particularly want to commend our guide Peter in the Guilin area-he was so incredibly attentive, energetic, enthusiastic-and absolutely dedicated to ensuring that our meals were 100% vegetarian.
