The Star Flyer is one of the most commanding ships in the Caribbean, and it's easy to see why! There are 4 masts on the Star Flyer that hoist her 16 sails that raise in dramatic fashion with songs and a light show. The ship holds 170 passengers at the max, though it doesn't feel overwhelming or overcrowded. There are plenty of sunchairs on the top deck of the ship to take in the sun and relax while sailing or in port. There are 2 small pools onboard the ship, one in the front and one in the back. On the main deck, you can park yourself at the Tropical Bar to get the "Cocktail of the Day" or read a book and listen to music in the piano lounge. Just under the main deck is the dining room, where you will sit with and meet many people from all over the world.
The accommodations onboard were spacious and comfortable. We stayed in a Category 3 room which had a double bed split into twin beds, a porthole, a bathroom, and several areas to store your belongings while onboard. The bathroom is small, but that's to be expected on a small ship. There was plenty of storage space in the bathroom as well which is really nice to ensure your belongings don't find their way across the room.
The Star Flyer aims to sail as much as the wind will allow. The sails will be up when in transit from port to port which may result in listing, but is one of the most unique ship experiences I have been able to be a part of. All of the processes onboard are manual, and the guests were able to help with raising sails and tie knots, which is a ton of hard work! The sailing crew is great at teaching the guests all about sailing and the ship: how to tie knots, how the boat sails, and a tour of the engine room. I even climbed the mast, which is not for the faint of heart! I'm scared of heights, but the views at the top made it all worth it!
There are also plenty of activities onboard at night after dinner. There was a crew and passenger fashion show, where items from the gift shop were modeled. One night there was a crew and passenger talent show which was absolutely hilarious! One night a steel drum band was brought on board which was wonderful, and there was a trivia night to keep our brains from turning into the pina coladas we were drinking. There were some families onboard with some young kids, so the crew put together a scavenger hunt throughout the whole ship - they had a blast!

The response from Adventure Life to my first inquiry was prompt and promising. I worked with Jamie Broeckel, Trip Planner, via text, email, and phone calls- always extremely responsive and thorough with information and explaining the process to arrange a private tour for me to Malaysia Borneo. Within about week, the booking was complete and I made decisions because of Jamie's great customer service , friendly manner, and overall competence on behalf of the company's travel expertise. Now I have an itinerary, additional Trip Planner Assistants, several links for vital information for traveling to Maylasia, etc. Still many details for Sept. trip, but now the heavy lifting is done and I can enjoy the rest of the anticipation and research!! Thanks Jamie- you are amazing!!!!

The trip was not only memorable for the amount of animals we saw but also for the people and accommodations at the two camps where we stayed. Our first guide, BK, was a wealth of information about the animals, landscape and down to the plants and what they were used for. Everyday out was a learning experience with him. All the people at the camps were gracious and the food was excellent.
Our second camp in the Okavanga was just as good as the first as far as the staff, accommodations, food and animals. After our experience at the first camp we amazed that the high quality remained the same. Our guide, G, made sure we were able to enjoy every experience including a rush through the bush to witness a cheetah and an ensuing hunt that he heard over his radio.
In both camps there were enough guides out that if they saw something the other guides were informed which helped in seeing as much as possible. It was also nice that the concessions were large enough that we did not have vehicles following each other throughout the day.
Normally there is always something in a trip of this length that we think could be improved upon but this is the rare case where we cannot think of anything. From the time we left the States to when we returned it was one of the most hassle free vacations we took.
Perhaps emphasizing the use of the laundry facilities at the camps would be useful because of the luggage restrictions would be the only thing I can think of as an improvement to future clients.
