You might be thinking, what does Paris have to do with the Arctic? Well, it is where our adventure began, because our Ponant cruise began with charter flights from Paris, France to Longyearbyen, Spitsbergen. Since we had to travel through Paris, we thought we might as well make the most of our time!
The flight got things off to a great start with champagne and amazing chocolate mousse! After we arrived, we checked in to our hotel, and then headed to the city. We made a quick stop at the Arc de Triumph, and then tromped across the city to the Eiffel Tower, where we toasted with champagne at the top! The rest of the day in Paris was spent hunting down amazing food. We hit hidden sandwich shops tucked in alleys, famous bakeries, little bread shops that required some serious use of google translate, and an ice cream shop that one of my favorite clients recommended that has apparently become quite famous since she visited it a couple of decades ago! It was a delicious day!
