Day 1: Los Angeles | Joshua Tree National Park

Meet your group at 9 am for a Welcome Meeting, then make your way to Joshua Tree National Park for your first hike of the trip. Keep an eye out for wildflowers such as catclaw acacia, desert almond, and oak woodlands among the boulders as you stroll along this easy and accessible trail that leads to the famous Skull Rock. After the walk, settle in at your accommodation and spend the afternoon and evening at leisure before tomorrow's hikes.

Included Activities:
    • Joshua Tree - Skull Rock hike
Walking Distance: 1.8 miles (2.7 km) with an elevation gain of 120 feet (49 m).

Day 2: Joshua Tree National Park

    • 1 Breakfast, 1 Lunch, 1 Dinner
Tuck into a hearty breakfast, pick up a packed lunch, and off to go for another, this time, slightly longer hike. Lost Palms Oasis Trail is a popular out-and-back trail located near Mecca in California. An oasis surrounded by fan palms and other plants at the far end of the canyon. What goes down must go up, and it is a strenuous climb out of the canyon, but it is worth seeing this peaceful place. Enjoy your evening on this included dinner in the historical and atmospheric Pappy and Harriet's restaurant. Located on the old frontier town movie set that was created by a group of Hollywood investors in the 1940s, you will enjoy tasty mesquite barbeque, live music, dancing, and friendly service at this famous dining spot.

    Included Activities:
        • Joshua Tree - Lost Palms Oasis hike
        • Joshua Tree - Pappy and Harriet's dinner
Walking Distance: 7.5 miles (12 kilometers) with an elevation gain of 500 feet (152 meters).

Day 3: Death Valley National Park

        • 1 Breakfast, 1 Lunch
Today is an early start to make our way to Death Valley National Park. The first stop is on Mojave National Preserve for a walk along the Kelso Dunes Trail to listen to the booming dunes. The strange and eerie sound is deep and rumbling and produces a vibration that you can feel deep inside your body. To experience more of a loud boom, gather your group on the crest of the dune which hasn’t been walked on for a while, and try to shove off as much sand as possible at the same time. You’ll also see beautiful wildflowers along this trail which is best to enjoy from October until May. Continue to Death Valley and explore Badwater Basin along the way, the lowest point in all of North America. Tonight you’ll stay in Death Valley.

        Included Activities:
              • Mojave National Preserve - Kelso Dunes hike
              • Death Valley NP - Badwater Basin walk
              Driving Distance: Approximately 5 hours
Walking Distance: 5.7miles (9.5 kilometers) and involves 600 feet (182 meters) of elevation.

Day 4: Death Valley National Park

              • Hotel
              • 1 Breakfast, 1 Lunch
Today, it’s time for one of Death Valley’s most iconic hikes to the Golden Canyon. The choice of route will depend on the group’s abilities and willingness to hike in the heat as Death Valley is hot, hot, hot. It’s possible to get a glimpse of the canyon from the parking area but walking between the yellow walls of the canyon is well worth the effort to marvel at the wildlife, towering walls, colorful side canyons, and ripples formed by ancient water which have now turned to stone. If the group is feeling adventurous, a longer hike to Zabriskie Point, one of the most photographed lookouts at Death Valley National Park, is highly recommended. Lunch is included in your adventure today. Tonight, you can relax at your hotel or, you may like to head out for an impromptu dinner with your group.

              Included Activities:
                      • Death Valley NP - Golden Canyon hike & Zabriskie point
Walking Distance: 2 to 7.8 miles (3.2 kilometers to 12.6 kilometers) and involves 535 feet to 834 feet (163 to 254 meters) of elevation.

Day 5: Las Vegas, Nevada | Return Home

                      • 1 Breakfast
After breakfast, time to make your way to Las Vegas. Before entering the town, stop for a hike in the Red Rock Canyon National Conservation Area. The Ice Box Canyon Trail leads to a narrow canyon that rarely sees sunlight, so it's much cooler inside the canyon than being out in the open desert. After the walk, continue your travel to Las Vegas, where your trip will end.

                      Included Activities:
                        • Red Rock Canyon State Park - Ice Box hike
                        Driving Distance: Approximately 2 hours.
Walking Distance: 2.3 miles (3.7 kilometers) and involves 825 feet (251 meters) of elevation.

Our guide and driver were very good with their knowledge and were very helpful with our questions. It was a very pleasant visit that would have been impossible to do on our own. Hotels and restaurants were fantastic. The special places we got to go to, like the kitchens, were great. Enjoyed the entire trip!
