Explore Svalbard on a 10-day route from Longyearbyen and return aboard MV Freya. Sail past Fuglefjella near Longyearbyen before visiting Poolepynten on Prins Karls Forland, known for its walrus colony and burial site. Travel along the ice edge, where seals, seabirds, and polar bears may be present. Continue to Fuglefjorden for a Zodiac cruise near Svitjodbreen and observe glacier fronts. Visit St. Johnsfjord and land at Copper Camp to view remains from past activity. In Van Mijenfjord, land at Vårsolbukta to see Camp Bell and look for reindeer. Explore Hornsund with a landing at Gnålodden, home to bird cliffs and a trapper’s hut. Return through Isfjorden to Longyearbyen for disembarkation. Includes daily shore landings, wildlife observation, and guided exploration throughout the journey.

Day 1: Longyearbyen | Embark

Sail past Fuglefjella (Bird Mountain), a plateau-shaped mountain near Longyearbyen.

Day 2: Poolepynten

Visit Poolepynten, a headland on Prins Karls Forland. The site includes a walrus colony and a burial area.

Day 3-7: Fuglefjorden | Van Mijenfjord

Search the ice edge, a dynamic setting of texture and light, home to seals, seabirds, and polar bears. Turn south to Fuglefjorden, for a Zodiac cruise of Svitjodbreen, on the hunt for calving ice. Tour St. Johnsfjord, landing at Copper Camp to view cultural remains. Land at Vårsolbukta in Van Mijenfjord to view Camp Bell, a prospector’s hut, and hopefully meet some reindeer.

Day 8-9: Hornsund | Isfjorden

See Hornsund, with a landing in Gnålodden to marvel at the scenic bird cliff (home to black-legged kittiwakes) and trapper’s hut. Return north to Isfjorden and Longyearbyen.

Day 10: Longyearbyen | Disembark
