Story

Founded in 1982, Desert & Delta Safaris grows into one of Botswana's most renowned safari operators, with its roots tracing back to Jessie Neil's investment in Botswana tourism in 1980. Inspired by the Okavango Delta, Jessie establishes Camp Okavango on Nxaragha Island before opening Camp Moremi in the Moremi Game Reserve. These two pioneering camps form the foundation of Desert & Delta Safaris, marking the beginning of a legacy that continues to shape exceptional safari experiences in Botswana.

The company's journey expands through the acquisition and development of iconic lodges across Botswana's most celebrated wildlife destinations. Chobe Game Lodge joins the portfolio following Chobe Holdings' acquisition of Desert & Delta Safaris, followed by Savute Safari Lodge, Chobe Savanna Lodge, Xugana Island Lodge, Leroo La Tau, Camp Xakanaxa, and Nxamaseri Island Lodge. Today, the collection of luxury lodges allows you to experience the Okavango Delta, Moremi Game Reserve, Chobe National Park, the Caprivi Strip, and Makgadikgadi Pans National Park through carefully crafted safari adventures.

Throughout its history, Desert & Delta Safaris continues investing in exceptional guest experiences while protecting Botswana's extraordinary wilderness. Landmark refurbishments transform Chobe Game Lodge into a modern five-star safari destination, rebuild Camp Okavango and Camp Moremi with environmentally sensitive designs, and introduce Botswana's first electric safari vehicle and electric safari boat. Solar-powered boats, electric vehicles, raised walkways, and 100% solar-powered camps demonstrate an ongoing commitment to sustainable tourism.
