I’m torn… do I really want to let the cat out of the bag about Boca Chica?
An hour flight from Panama City brings you to David and an hour drive to the south brings you to the Pacific Ocean and Boca Chica. The town itself is little more than a postage stamp with 2-3 restaurants and a few bars but a few hotels have established themselves here and it is well worth the trip.
All around you’ll find islands, each with a little spit of a beach, perfect for a lazy day of swimming and relaxing. Some islands are more established as a bit of a party scene but for the most part these islands are mostly (if not entirely) uninhabited. Your hotel can arrange a water taxi for $2-5 or schedule a tour with snorkeling and a picnic.
The bay boasts one of the most reliable places to see dolphins and sport fishing - as well as traditional long line fishing - can be done throughout the National Park that surrounds.
Boca Chica is still up and coming but I would guess in 5-10 years it will be THE next big thing in Panama. Jump on the train now so you can say “I remember when”
I've just started the process, but Tilly has been very helpful and has a great personality that puts a traveler at ease. I think the paperwork has just begun so I can't give an overall rating of the whole experience. So far, so good.
