Meet your guide and driver at your hotel and then head to a little place near Chau Long Market to try the fragrant beef, chicken, or pork and noodle soup, known locally as a popular breakfast dish among Hanoi locals. You then venture into the market to peruse the stalls selling unusual fruits and livestock, including frogs! You will have the chance to sample some of the local foods on sale, for example, tree tomatoes or green mango with chili, silkworms, and pork with green rice. Your next stop is Banh Cuon Van restaurant, famous for its steamed rice pancakes, known locally as Banh Cuon, which are filled with delicious ground pork, jicama, and wood ear mushrooms. You then continue on to Dong Xuan market where you visit Ngo Cho Dong Xuan, one of the best stalls in Hanoi for bun cha, a dish of grilled pork, and noodles. On our way back, you stop off in the Yen Phu district to visit Café Duy Tri, a traditional Hanoi café established in 1936, where you can taste such specialties as black sticky rice and green rice with yogurt, coffee with yogurt, or passion fruit with yogurt.
