The voyage begins in Jamestown, where there is time to explore before departure. Jamestown reflects British cultural influences and has a warm, tropical climate. Points of interest include Longwood House, where Napoleon died in 1821, and Jacob’s Ladder, a 699-step staircase connecting the lower and upper parts of town. Visitors with additional time may choose short hikes or snorkeling near shore, where tropical and subtropical fish can be seen.
The day is spent sailing along the Mid-Atlantic Ridge, a submarine mountain range extending roughly 16,000 km (10,000 miles) from the Arctic Ocean toward southern Africa. In the evening, time may be available on deck for stargazing. Depending on weather conditions, features of the equatorial night sky can be observed with binoculars or, at times, with the naked eye.
Joining you across the equator are Arctic terns and long-tailed skuas flying their northbound spring migration. At this stage of the voyage, you hope for good weather as you attempt more stargazing on deck, observing how the polar star becomes visible on the northern horizon.
Day 9-10: Sailing towards Ilheus do Rombo and Sao Filipe (Fogo Island)
Sail by Ilheus do Rombo and Sao Filipe on Fogo Island, offering a chance to spot some of the Western Palearctic species. This provides an excellent opportunity to observe diverse bird species and enjoy the scenic views of the island from the water.

We are so glad that we chose Adventure Life. The service is top-notch. Everything is well taken care of and we just have to print the documents and go. Franny even gave us timely updates on possible airport strike.
