Day 1: Juneau & Orca Point Lodge | Embark

After exploring Alaska’s beautiful capital city, you’ll board the vessel and settle into your cabin and ship life while the captain navigates to nearby Colt Island. At the island, you’ll enjoy the warm accommodations of exclusive Orca Point Lodge and an Alaska-style dinner feast! The beach provides a large area to explore and play, but don’t forget to stop by the bonfire to roast s’mores and check out the marine life viewing tank.

Day 2: Tracy Arm | Frederick Sound

  • Ship
  • 1 Breakfast, 1 Lunch, 1 Dinner
Journey through Tracy Arm, a place the famous naturalist John Muir called “a wild, unfinished Yosemite.” Renowned for its pristine waterfalls, towering icebergs, abundant harbor seals, and granite cliffs that rise from sea level to 4,000 feet, this wilderness is often referred to by locals as one of the most scenic areas in the state. With the vessel’s skiff, you’ll get to experience the remarkable wilderness in a way most Alaska travelers can only imagine. Later in the day, you’ll transit Frederick Sound—a body of water humpback whales are known to frequent.

Day 3: Petersburg

  • Ship
  • 1 Breakfast, 1 Lunch, 1 Dinner
Moor on the northern end of Mitkof Island in the community of Petersburg and choose your own adventure! This small, charming fishing town is nicknamed Alaska’s “Little Norway.” Explore at your own pace, experiencing its unique Scandinavian culture and small-town lifestyle. Celebratory Independence Day games and events are typically prevalent on the 3rd of July, as well. You can also choose to board a skiff and cross the beautiful Wrangell Narrows for a guided wilderness hike on Kupreanof Island. Firework shows in Alaska are often late in the evening on the 3rd of July as the clock approaches midnight (it’s simply too light out during the summer to light fireworks during earlier evening hours!). Firework displays are also dependent on Southeast Alaska’s weather and are sometimes delayed. Our goal is to catch a show in either Petersburg or Wrangell.

Day 4: Wrangell

  • Ship
  • 1 Breakfast, 1 Lunch, 1 Dinner
Happy 4th of July! Get ready to experience the adventurous fun of a small, coastal Alaskan town on Independence Day. Wrangell is home to a little over 2,000 permanent residents and is the only town in Alaska to have been under the jurisdiction of three flags and ruled by four nations—the Tlingit, Russia, England, and the United States. Enjoy several options to explore this colorful history including the state historic park, Petroglyph Beach, which contains the highest concentration of petroglyphs in Southeast Alaska.

Day 5: Wilderness Exploration (Eastern Baranof Island | Peril Strait)

  • Ship
  • 1 Breakfast, 1 Lunch, 1 Dinner
On the final day of the adventure, your route will take you along Eastern Baranof Island – the “Waterfall Coast” – and Peril Strait en route to Sitka. These areas provide fantastic opportunities for wildlife viewing. Our expert shipboard team and knowledgeable captain will spot for wildlife and allow ample time for photography and viewing. The captain will also choose an ideal bay for exploration by kayak and skiff.

Day 6: Sitka | Disembark

Disembark in Sitka, the beautiful homeport of Alaskan Dream Cruises. Transfer to your hotel or the airport is complimentary.

Beyond expectations! Then again we weren't sure what to expect. Lovely stay at the lodge, met other like-minded travelers (many had their trips planned by Adventure Life) and the owner was a gracious hostess. It felt like you were one happy family, visiting with a favorite aunt.
