Involves minimal physical effort and is typically associated with leisurely activities. Activities are low-intensity or last less than a few hours each day.
Arrive at the city of Iquitos. Once there, begin the tour to some attractions in the area such as the Amazon Rescue Center (CREA), a foundation dedicated to the rescue, rehabilitation and release of manatees; the Museum of Amazonian Indigenous Cultures and Casa Morey, built between 1910 and 1913, an example of the ostentatious architectural style carried out during the rubber boom era. After the tour, transfer to the port to set sail on the Amazon Star. Participate in an orientation and safety talk, and begin to navigate the Amazon River. In the afternoon, enjoy a welcome dinner while the activities for the following day are presented.
Early in the morning, you can head to the deck for an optional bird watching activity. Peru contains the second largest number of bird species in the world, and the Amazon is home to most of them. After breakfast, go on a boat exploration along the Amazon River to see the local vegetation and wildlife.
Upon return, lunch is served. A naturalist will give a talk about life in the Amazon. Then, depart on a boat exploration to the Yarapa River, a tributary of the Ucayali River and a nature reserve protected by a local community. The crew will offer a live musical presentation in the boat. Finally, have dinner and participate in the briefing for next day´s activities.
Start the day at 6:00 a.m. with an optional bird watching activity from the deck. After, visit Yanallpa, a beautiful stream near the Ucayali River where you can appreciate the vegetation and local fauna. After breakfast, visit a school and a local town to learn about the culture of the Amazon. You can also acquire beautiful handicrafts and help the sustainability of the community. Back at the boat, have lunch on the deck while enjoying a panoramic view of the river. Later, a naturalist will offer a talk of the Pacaya Samiria National Reserve. Enjoy a night walk in El Dorado stream, where you can see the nocturnal fauna. Then, have dinner and participate in the briefing for next day´s activities.
Wake up at 6:00 am to start a boat exploration of El Dorado River where you will fish the most famous type in the Amazon: the piranha. Have a unique picnic breakfast on the boat. Back on the Amazon Star, have lunch and then participate in a cooking class. The next exploration by boat will take you to the Supay stream, which you have the option to explore by kayak. Then, have dinner and participate in the informative talk for the next day.
This morning enjoy breakfast on board before your morning visit to the city of Nauta. Discover its main attractions as well as the local market where you can get organic and exotic products from the area. After the visit, return to have lunch. A guide will tell mystical stories and tales of the Amazon. During the afternoon, explore the Pawachiro stream by boat delighting yourself by the variety of flora of the place. Upon your return, the crew will present a musical performance, and finally, dinner will be served and the activities planned for the following day will be presented.
During the morning, enjoy the experience of taking a picnic breakfast on the Pucate River. The excursion begins with a boat exploration, observing the monkeys, birds, and the immense variety of fauna that inhabits the area. Then, you can enter the river to swim with pink dolphins, a unique species that live in the Amazon. As an optional activity, you'll be able to fish for piranha.
Return to the boat for lunch and listen to the guide's conference about the source of the Amazon River, where you will find out the root of the most significant river in the world. During the afternoon, explore the Nauta Caño, with the option of traveling the stream in a kayak. Then, you will have dinner and participate in the informative talk preparing you for the next day. When the sun falls, you will leave on a night excursion.
Have breakfast on board this morning before taking a walking tour to have direct contact with nature. See the Victoria Regias, a unique plant from the Amazon and visit the local shaman of Puerto Prado, who will perform a ritual to charge you with good energy. Return to the boat for lunch outdoors and have a cooking class to learn more about the local gastronomy: its ingredients and preparation of its dishes. As an optional activity, you can have an origami class with towels. The last boat ride departs during the afternoon, to enjoy the colorful sunset while toasting with champagne. Back in the cruise, the crew will be presented; they'll perform a musical presentation and then you will have a farewell dinner where the itinerary for the next day will be explained.

The trip might have been the absolute best of our lifetime (thus far). We particularly want to commend our guide Peter in the Guilin area-he was so incredibly attentive, energetic, enthusiastic-and absolutely dedicated to ensuring that our meals were 100% vegetarian.

The response from Adventure Life to my first inquiry was prompt and promising. I worked with Jamie Broeckel, Trip Planner, via text, email, and phone calls- always extremely responsive and thorough with information and explaining the process to arrange a private tour for me to Malaysia Borneo. Within about week, the booking was complete and I made decisions because of Jamie's great customer service , friendly manner, and overall competence on behalf of the company's travel expertise. Now I have an itinerary, additional Trip Planner Assistants, several links for vital information for traveling to Maylasia, etc. Still many details for Sept. trip, but now the heavy lifting is done and I can enjoy the rest of the anticipation and research!! The trip was not only memorable for the amount of animals we saw but also for the people and accommodations at the two camps where we stayed. Our first guide, BK, was a wealth of information about the animals, landscape and down to the plants and what they were used for. Everyday out was a learning experience with him. All the people at the camps were gracious and the food was excellent.
Our second camp in the Okavanga was just as good as the first as far as the staff, accommodations, food and animals. After our experience at the first camp we amazed that the high quality remained the same. Our guide, G, made sure we were able to enjoy every experience including a rush through the bush to witness a cheetah and an ensuing hunt that he heard over his radio.
In both camps there were enough guides out that if they saw something the other guides were informed which helped in seeing as much as possible. It was also nice that the concessions were large enough that we did not have vehicles following each other throughout the day.
Normally there is always something in a trip of this length that we think could be improved upon but this is the rare case where we cannot think of anything. From the time we left the States to when we returned it was one of the most hassle free vacations we took.
Perhaps emphasizing the use of the laundry facilities at the camps would be useful because of the luggage restrictions would be the only thing I can think of as an improvement to future clients.
