Tour of Santiago with Lindblad
Meeting our fellow travelers while touring the city, plazas and museums.
View into the city of Santiago
Long holiday lines in the Santiago airport, but luckily, we had a charter flight that wouldn't leave without us.
Flying into Ushuaia!
We flew to Ushuaia and drove through Tierra del Fuego National Park to hop on a small boat through the Beagle Channel.
We landed in the pier after our boat ride and took a very quick bus ride to our ship.
Our spacious cabin on the National Geographic Resolution with a balcony!
We were greeted with treats, water bottles, and our parkas.
This ship had two igloos at the back you could enjoy during the day and sign up to sleep in for a night.
Our parkas kept us nice and warm while we sat out on the balcony. We had a nice Drake crossing as we got excited to see Antarctica!
Our first landing was Jenny Island. Only 50 people allowed on shore at a time.
Our first wildlife spotting!
Toby's first time seeing my favorite place in the world. I loved sharing it with him!
Walking poles for anyone who needed them in the mudroom.
With a cozy blanket and hot drink, we spent a lot of time out on the balcony to take in the views.
If you're on the fence about a balcony in Antarctica, this might convince you.
Hiking onshore and learning about the receding glaciers.
Antarctica Polar Plunge!
Our Antarctic continental landing on a site that hadn't been charted before. This was a special day!
Anyone who wanted to kayak got the opportunity as well.
My happy place—Antarctica!
Paddling Antarctic waters with all of our new friends.
We also got the chance to cross country ski on the sea ice!
Taking a selfie with the National Geographic Resolution in the background.
It was quite the work out to cross country ski in ANTARCTICA!
Awesome day skiing in Antarctica!
We had some incredible weather on our trip. This day was calm and sunny - perfect for reflections and reflecting.
A crabeater seal sunning itself on some ice.
Chunky weddell seal a bit disturbed by our presence.
Three adorable Adele penguins. The one with the dark chin is the adult and white chins are adolescents.
One of the only ships we saw was the sister ship - National Geographic Endurance.
We saw some beautiful ice formations.
We learned about the stages of glacial ice and sheet ice from our fun guides.
Beautiful day on the zodiac to get up close (safely) with the ice.
Getting some spiked hot cocoa to warm us up!
Living our best lives and loving this zodiac ride in the ice!
One of my favorite parts of these cruises has the be the knowledgeable team that teaches us so much about this place and animals.
When you're in the hot tub and there are whales, you throw on a robe and run to the bow!
The amount of ice under this small bit is breathtaking.
Finding little creatures in the ice.
Painted petrels.
Seeing the Brown Station for the second time. This was my very first continental landing in March 2018!
Just when I think one day can't top the next, we see pods of orca!
Neko Harbor was one of my favorite stops
Last day and the grin on my face couldn't be bigger. We did a splashy zodiac ride around Spert Island!
The food onboard was excellent!
Buffet breakfast but lunch and dinner was a selected menu.
They saved food by having people sign up in advance for the menu they choose.
Last dessert on the ship - sweet ending!
Landed back in Ushuaia and had some time to walk around before our flight back to Santiago.
