Day 1: Oslo| Fly to Longyearbyen

  • 1 Dinner
Start the expedition in Oslo, spend the day seeing museums, enjoying parks, and viewing architecture. Depart on an evening flight to Longyearbyen.

Day 2: Longyearbyen | Embark

  • Ship
  • 1 Breakfast, 1 Lunch, 1 Dinner
After an overnight hotel stay, explore this unique little Arctic town and surrounding area. Longyearbyen is often called an antidote to modern-day life and is a prime destination for adventure travelers. Board MS Spitsbergen.

Day 3-5: North West Spitsbergen National Park

  • Ship
  • 3 Breakfasts, 3 Lunches, 3 Dinners
Sail into the Kongsfjord, considered one of the most beautiful fjord regions in Spitsbergen. See mighty glaciers calving icebergs into the sea, framed by stunning mountain formations. Sailing northwest, reach Mitrahalvoya. Visit the former mining settlement of Ny-Alesund, and aim to see the enormous Monaco Glacier at Liefdefjord.

Day 6-9: Eastern Svalbard Nature Reserves and South Spitsbergen National Park

  • Ship
  • 4 Breakfasts, 4 Lunches, 4 Dinners
Eastern Svalbard boasts the highest population of polar bears on the archipelago! Today explore the Sorgfjord, which borders the North East Svalbard Nature Reserves. Enjoy the view as you pass the spectacular bird cliffs of Alkefjellet. Land on the island of Kvitoya, where relics of the failed Andree hot-air balloon expedition were found. Also aim to see Edgeoya, Kapp Lee, and Rossoya, fewer than 620 miles from the North Pole. Meet some of Svalbard's marine mammals as you head toward South Cape Land. The Storfjord is mainly frozen in winter, making it a perfect polar bear habitat. Ice floes early in the season attract the bears to hunt on drift ice.

Day 10-11: The Fjords of Southwest Spitsbergen

  • Ship
  • 2 Breakfasts, 2 Lunches, 2 Dinners
Isfjord is the most prominent fjord system in Svalbard and you explore it extensively. The landscape of the inner Isfjord changes constantly. Immense U-shaped valleys, carved out of the mountains by the giant glaciers that covered the area some 10,000 years ago, are home to large populations of Svalbard reindeer. Later, you might host a farewell barbecue in beautiful Arctic surroundings.

Day 12: Longyearbyen | Disembark | Fly to Oslo

  • 1 Breakfast
Every great exploration voyage must end. Remember the calving glaciers and buzzing birdlife, or simply the subtle, elated feeling of having been on top of the world. An early morning transfer takes you to the airport for your flight back to Oslo.

The trip was terrific with great planning on your part. Most of the adventures were not mainstream and somewhat off the beaten path which made it especially enjoyable!! We felt taken care of and you all were readily available to respond to questions and issues. I would highly recommend your company and friends have already expressed interest based on our pictures and excitement.
