The journey into wonder begins as you fly from Oslo to Longyearbyen. Embark and set sail on the Scenic Eclipse and settle into our suite and get familiar with the ship itself and what it has to offer. Raise the glass and toast the start of the voyage at the welcome cocktail reception hosted by the Captain, who will introduce the expert Discovery Leaders and their team.

The Svalbard Archipelago’s rugged glaciers and frozen tundras are a fragile and remote area of vast environmental significance, while Spitsbergen is the largest island. Due to the extraordinary nature of the region, the sailing and discovery schedule is flexible. The experienced Captain and Discovery Leader will use their expertise to design this section of the voyage from day to day, making the most of the long daylight hours weather and ice conditions to give the best experience possible in this extraordinary part of the world. South of Svalbard and en-route to Norway is the rarely visited Bear Island. A protected nature reserve, it’s home to dramatic cliffs, huge seabird colonies and a unique collection of fauna and flora.

Discovery: Partake in daily Scenic Discovery excursions by Zodiac, kayak and nature walks. Discover majestic Arctic scenery, tundra landscapes, wildlife, and marine life, taking you to the place of your wildest dreams.

Reaching Norway’s North Cape is an iconic moment, as it’s the northernmost point of Europe’s mainland. From here, head south to Hammerfest, the world’s northernmost town.

Freechoice: Join a guided tour of Hammerfest with a visit to The Museum of Reconstruction to learn the history of the region. Or, if you are feeling more active, join a bike tour.

Known as the cultural hub of the Arctic, Tromsø sits just above the Arctic Circle in the lands of the Midnight Sun.

Freechoice: Experience Tromsø’s best view from the top of the cable car, or choose to see what is below the seas of Norway with a visit to Polaria, an Arctic aquarium with knowledge-based exhibits and a panoramic cinema. Alternatively, join a local for a guided walk of this historic cultural mecca.

Enrich: As the candlelights flicker, the elegant Arctic Cathedral is filled with the sounds of the most beautiful Norwegian folk songs, as well as some wonderfully powerful classical and sacred selections.

Sail from the impressive Trollfjord to Gravdal. Arrive where great, craggy islands touch the sky, picturesque villages dot the archipelago and wildlife abounds and delve into Viking history at  the Lofotr Viking Museum.

Cruise towards the granite mountain of Torghatten. One of Norway’s best-known mountain formations, it’s distinctive for the hole going right through it – the subject of Nordland legend and fairy tales

Discovery: Set out on a Scenic Discovery excursion by Zodiac, or, if the weather is permitting, explore by Zodiac.

Norway’s Trondheim is a vibrant harbor city filled with colorful warehouses lining the waterways. The well-pedestrianized city center makes it an ideal city for exploring on foot.

Freechoice: Explore the town of Trondheim and the Gothic Nidaros Cathedral, or transfer to Trøndelag Folk Museum, an open-air museum with more than 80 historical buildings. Or, if you’re feeling musical, visit the Ringve Museum, Norway’s national museum for music and musical instruments and enjoy a local recital.

Explore the magnificent fjords once again as you arrive in the village of Geiranger, at the heart of UNESCO-protected Geirangerfjord. One of Norway’s most beautiful sights, waterfalls cascade down the steep lush mountainsides of this wonder of Mother Nature.

Sail along Sognefjord, the largest fjord in Norway. At its deepest, Sognefjord plunges to more than 1,300 meters while the spectacular mountains rise on either side. Visit Flåm, right in the heart of the fjord before passing through the village of Vikøyri.

Freechoice: Ride the world-famous Flåm Railway for a day of stunning scenery. Or, you may choose to explore an authentic Viking Village.

The cruise will end in Norway’s magnificent second-largest city, set on a beautiful convergence of fjords and surrounded by mountains.
