Day 1: Transfer from Reykjavik to Isafjordur, Iceland / Embark

Arrive in Reykjavik and transfer by chartered bus to Isafjordur. The shuttle is approximately 7 hours. Embark your ship this afternoon and prepare to set sail.

Day 2: Sheltered fjords

  • Ship
  • 1 Breakfast, 1 Lunch, 1 Dinner
Enjoy a great scenic cruise as your ship crew aims to anchor in the sheltered fjords of Hesteyrarfjörður, Veiðileysufjörður, Lonafjörður, or Hrafnsfjörður looking for a great place to snowshoe. The mountains are not that high here but alpine slopes offer promising ski outings. At night, the Westfjords are a great place to watch the Northern Lights (Aurora Borealis) during the winter months. On these late March and early April sailings, you may still witness them.

Day 3: Snowshoe to Hornbjarg

  • Ship
  • 1 Breakfast, 1 Lunch, 1 Dinner
Begin the day in a calm area in the bay of Hornvik at the northern tip of Iceland. Here, surrounded by rugged mountains, hope to snowshoe or ski up to the Hornbjarg view point, an impressive rock face towering over the Hornstrandir Nature Reserve. In summer the cliffs and valleys are inhabited with birds, and in the fall the fjords offer moments of silence and tranquility. Keep an eye out for the Arctic fox that proudly roam the mountains and inlets.

Day 4: Snæfellsnes Peninsula

  • Ship
  • 1 Breakfast, 1 Lunch, 1 Dinner
Head towards the Snæfellsnes Peninsula and sail past Latrabjarg, a massive bird cliff. Keep your eye out for a variety of nesting seabirds, orcas, and other marine wildlife.

Day 5: Breidafjördur

  • Ship
  • 1 Breakfast, 1 Lunch, 1 Dinner
Spend the day at sea in Breidafjördur searching for orcas and other marine wildlife.

Day 6: Heading South around the Snæfellsnes Peninsula

  • Ship
  • 1 Breakfast, 1 Lunch, 1 Dinner
Sail around the Snæfellsnes Peninsula through Snæfellsjökull volcano, one of the most majestic symbols of Iceland. The volcano is recognized as the setting of the novel Journey to the Center of the Earth by the author Jules Verne.

Day 7: Disembark in Keflavik

  • 1 Breakfast
Disembark in Keflavik in the early morning.

Beyond expectations! Then again we weren't sure what to expect. Lovely stay at the lodge, met other like-minded travelers (many had their trips planned by Adventure Life) and the owner was a gracious hostess. It felt like you were one happy family, visiting with a favorite aunt.
