When I signed on for this trip, I knew there would be a sizable snowmobiling component. It's one of the things I was most drawn by. We have a snowmobile at home and use it to access great backcountry skiing spots. But this was different. This was 3 days, 100 miles each day. Driving from Rovaniemi to Norway and the Arctic Ocean, the northern tip of the continent and then all the way back. 300 miles is a long way on a sled, especially done in 3 days. Fortunately, the riding was mostly along low forested slopes and frozen lakes. It was easy going and gorgeous. We stayed each night at friendly B&B's along the way, had excellent meals (roasted reindeer and salmon stew!), and saw the northern lights in spectacular fashion. And cruising along the frozen ice at way-too-many miles-per-hour? All part of the adventure!
