This morning, take a coach to Brussels for a guided tour and a visit to a Belgian chocolate workshop. In the city center, see major landmarks including the Grand-Place, known for its ornate City Hall and historic guildhalls. Visit the famous Manneken Pis statue and stroll through the elegant Royal Saint-Hubert Galleries. Then, visit a Belgian chocolate maker located in the heart of the city. Learn about the history of chocolate—from its ancient Mayan roots to modern-day techniques—while watching a demonstration through viewing windows that overlook the workshop. Return to the ship in Halle in time.
In the afternoon, the ship cruises along the Canal du Centre toward Strepy-Thieu.
Spend the morning cruising toward the Ronquieres Inclined Plane, a massive engineering feat built between 1960 and 1968. This structure replaced 14 locks and significantly reduced transit delays. The barge then uses a boat lift with two independent caissons, enabling vessels to cross a 240-foot (75 m) height difference in under 35 minutes. This modern lift replaced four earlier boat lifts and two locks. Cruising continues toward Mons. In the afternoon, enjoy a guided visit to the Chateau de Beloeil, often referred to as the "Belgian Versailles." The chateau features a rich collection of artwork from the 15th to 19th centuries, including a library with over 20,000 books and rare manuscripts. The furniture showcases top pieces by 17th- and 18th-century French cabinetmakers, and the paintings highlight the notable achievements of the castle’s noble lineage. Next, visit the Chant d’Eole vineyard, founded through a partnership between Belgian farming families and expert sparkling-wine producers. A guided tour shares the story of the estate and explains the wine-making process—from planting the vines to bottling the final product. The experience ends with a tasting of three signature wines: Brut Blanc de Blancs, Rose Brut, and Elixir Saint-Georges. Return to Mons.
Start the day with a guided food tour in Mons, a city that blends modern energy with rich historical roots. The Grand-Place is filled with charming spots to explore. A local guide leads a walking tour through the heart of the city, sharing stories, cultural insights, and historical landmarks along the way. The tour includes tastings of four local specialties, offering a flavorful introduction to regional cuisine. This experience highlights the connection between food and heritage, making it both educational and delicious. In the afternoon, cruise along the Nimy-Blaton-Peronnes Canal, a key inland waterway in central Belgium. Opened in 1955, the canal links the Canal du Centre with the Scheldt River, supporting regional navigation and trade. The barge arrives in Peronnes-lez-Antoing in the early afternoon.
Spend the morning cruising toward Oudenaarde, passing through the city of Tournai. Enjoy a relaxing break on the Sun Deck as the peaceful countryside drifts by. Arrival in Oudenaarde is expected in the early afternoon. In the afternoon, take part in a guided tour of Oudenaarde and visit a local distillery. Oudenaarde is a charming town known for its rich heritage and over 100 historic monuments. Key highlights include the Gothic town hall, Church of Our Lady, St. Walburga’s Church, the beguinage, Boudewijnstoren, the birthplace of Margaret of Parma, and the 18th-century meat market. An urban walking tour leads through some of the most scenic and significant parts of the city. Free time follows for personal exploration. Next, visit a local distillery to discover how jenever, gin, and whiskey are crafted. The tour concludes with a tasting of these signature spirits. Return on board. Overnight stopover.
Spend the afternoon cruising along the Scheldt River from Oudenaarde to Ghent, passing through the scenic landscapes of several natural parks. Later in the day, enjoy a guided excursion to Bruges and a brewery visit. Travel by coach from Ghent to Bruges (approximately 60 to 75 minutes). Its works of art, tranquil ambiance, romantic aura, and stunning architecture make it one of the top places to visit during any European vacation. The city has meticulously preserved the elegance and class it exuded during its golden age as a maritime trade center. You'll then visit a brewery for a taste of ale. This brewery was founded in 1856. Six generations later, it is a dynamic brewery still attached to its origins and the authentic Brugse Zot. Return to the ship in Ghent. Gala evening.

This was my first experience with Adventure Life - and I couldn't have been more pleased with the trip. The guides and local staff in both Buenos Aires and Uruguay were terrific - extremely helpful and accommodating. I really enjoyed meeting the friendly staff in Buenos Aires in person (I left my bags with them for the afternoon).
