Embark on a week-long small group kayaking trip through Belize's southern barrier reef. You'll receive instructions and safety equipment before paddling over submerged coral reefs and through mangroves at Tobacco Caye. Practice sailing your kayak on the way to South Water Caye. The shallow waters give you an incredible view of a variety of marine life. If that's not close enough, try snorkeling or scuba diving along the inner and outer walls of the barrier reef.

Day 1: Arrive Belize

Arrive at the Belize International Airport for a scenic 20-minute flight to the coastal town of Dangriga. From there, travel by road to Bocawina Rainforest Lodge in the foothills of the Maya Mountains. This boutique lodge, set in the lush 700-acre Bocawina National Park, offers a quintessential tropical rainforest experience. After settling into your cabanas, join your fellow travelers for dinner in the rainforest at the acclaimed Wild Fig Restaurant.

Day 2-4: Glover's Basecamp

After breakfast, you head to Dangriga for a boat transfer to Glover's Reef Atoll, roughly 36 mi (58 km) offshore, with the crossing taking around one to two hours. Once you arrive, you settle into your fully-equipped tent cabanas after an island orientation. Before lunch, your guides walk you through kayaking and snorkeling fundamentals and let you test your gear, then you're out on the water after lunch for a kayak tour or a snorkel at one of the local house reefs.

For the next three days, the itinerary stays flexible to match the group's interests, abilities, and the weather, with most days built around two guided activities. You can choose from paddling, snorkeling, sailing, hand-line fishing, spearfishing, and stand-up paddleboarding, with motorboat support available on the water. Mornings sometimes start with an early swim or sunrise yoga by the water, and evenings wind down with happy hour, games, stargazing, and cultural presentations under Caribbean sunsets.

Day 5-6: Tobacco Caye

You spend a final morning at Glover's Reef before an early lunch and a 45-minute boat charter over to Tobacco Caye. The 17,000-acre South Water Caye Marine Reserve on the Southern Barrier Reef becomes your playground for the next two days, a setting of palm trees, coral islands, mangrove forests, and abundant coral reefs. Evenings bring Belize's laid-back island culture, with sunsets to toast from your private beach cabana.

Day 7: Return Home

  • 1 Breakfast
After an early breakfast, your water taxi will take you back to the mainland and the town of Dangriga where the trip finishes. Any extra luggage that you have stored at the operations base will be made available for repacking, and a taxi can be arranged to take you to your connecting flight to the Belize International Airport or to the local bus station to continue exploring Belize.

The trip was terrific with great planning on your part. Most of the adventures were not mainstream and somewhat off the beaten path which made it especially enjoyable!! We felt taken care of and you all were readily available to respond to questions and issues. I would highly recommend your company and friends have already expressed interest based on our pictures and excitement.
