The Ortelius boasts more than 25 years exploring the polar waters of the world, built in Poland for scientific research. Named for Abraham Ortelius, who published the first modern world atlas, this 100-guest vessel provides an excellent way to visit the remote locations at the ends of the world in the Arctic and Antarctic.

Ranked in the highest ice class, it easily crushes through solid ice and pack ice, allowing it to visit otherwise inaccessible parts of the polar regions. Onboard, it features two restaurants with a diverse international catering staff, a bar, and lecture room where the expedition leader and team of guides will brief you on the day's activities. The ample bridge is also open to passengers. In line with many naturalist cruises, the main goal of the exploratory itineraries is to spend as much time ashore as possible.

Cabins are not quite luxury, but definitely comfortable. All rooms have private bathrooms and eithere a porthole or a window, and there are a variety of cabins to choose from on each deck.
