Navigate through one of the most pristine sections of Ecuadorian Amazonia
Arrive in the city of Coca and transfer to the Río Napo port. Take a 60-minute motorized canoe downstream to board the M/V Anakonda. After boarding, attend a welcome orientation and begin your journey down the Amazon. Following dinner, enjoy an optional nocturnal forest walk to discover the mysteries of this unique environment.
In the morning, disembark for the first daylight close-and-personal tropical rainforest experience, where you can see and learn about the incredible biodiversity of the Amazon. Learn about the relationship between plants and animals while closely watching out for samples of Amazonia’s fascinating biodiversity at every turn.
After lunch, the ship navigates to one of the most pristine and rarely explored sections of Ecuadorian Amazonia, home to the legendary pink river dolphin, black caiman, and anaconda. Also be on the look out for river turtles, various species of monkey, and hoatzins. The only way to actually visit this flooded ecosystem is by canoe, a ride that reveals the beauty of a lush jungle world. Continue navigating alongside the Ecuadorian-Peruvian border. After such an incredible day in the Amazon, end the night accompanied with a delicious dinner. A glamping option is available to those travelers who wish to participate - please inquire for more information.
Start the day off by visiting an authentic Kichwa family on the banks of the Napo River, where you receive the opportunity to learn directly from members of the local community. Then board the Manatee for lunch as we continue upstream. Guests will participate in a cooking class with our expert chef and prepare exquisite traditional Ecuadorian. Guests are also invited to try their hand at traditional handicrafts or enjoy our onboard facilities, including the Rainforest Spa, the spectacular view from our Amazon Hot Tub, cocktails at our Bar and Lounge, and stargazing from our Observation Deck.
Relax and enjoy the Manatee Amazon Explorer during the morning and disembark to explore the nearby forest for a walk to discover a myriad of different animals and plant species that can only be found in the Amazon basin.
In the afternoon, visit a canopy tower, built against a giant Kapok tree. The perspective at the top of this observation tower is truly glorious, looming above the lush treetops and providing a view of the sheer vastness of the Amazon Basin.
In the evening, venture into the river on a canoe to search for black caimans with the help of your flashlights.
