CLASSIC: Guided tour of Porto. Leave for Porto's city center by coach. Your first stop will be a tour of St. Francis Church. A stone's throw from the Douro riverbank, it is among the most symbolic buildings in Porto. Then head over to see the inside of Bolsa Palace—also known as the Stock Exchange Palace—a magnificent, neoclassical mansion in the heart of the historic downtown. Ascend the magnificent marble and granite staircase to visit the Golden Room and the lavishly decorated Arab Room, where official receptions are still held. The next stop will be an azulejo tile workshop. This tour is a unique occasion to discover this age-long art form. Return to the ship.
DISCOVERY: Tour Porto via tram and visit the tram museum. Board one of the city's trams and partake in this urban tourism experience all the way to the mouth of the Douro. Finish up your excursion with a tasting of some of the local specialties.

DISCOVERY: Quaint Afurada. Leave by coach for the mouth of the Douro River to set off on an atypical stroll to Afurada, located on the southern bank. Visit the Afurada Heritage Interpretive Center. Enjoy some time on your own in this charming village. Lose yourself in the backstreets lined with colorful homes. Don't forget to sample delicious seafood dishes at a local tavern! Return to the ship.
Tonight is your gala evening and dinner, followed by traditional folk entertainment.

Beyond expectations! Then again we weren't sure what to expect. Lovely stay at the lodge, met other like-minded travelers (many had their trips planned by Adventure Life) and the owner was a gracious hostess. It felt like you were one happy family, visiting with a favorite aunt.
