Included Excursion Day: Strasbourg and Christmas Markets.
Departure for a panoramic tour of the city, giving you a great overview of Strasbourg and its history. You will successively see part of the Strasbourg port, remnants of the city's old fortifications built by Vauban, the European district, the German district (Neustadt), the medieval old town, and several religious buildings.
Lunch on board.
Free afternoon, with a walking tour through old Strasbourg before reaching the Petite France district, the most picturesque part of old Strasbourg. Fishermen, millers, and tanners once lived and worked in this area, built right on the water. The magnificent half-timbered houses date back to the 16th and 17th centuries, with steep roofs opening onto attics that were once used for drying hides. You will then head to the cathedral square (exteriors). With its spire reaching 142 meters high, the cathedral and its lace-like pink sandstone façade dominate the entire Alsace plain. Don’t miss the Kammerzell House (1589), adorned with sculpted beams and timber panels.
Free time at the Christmas markets. For four centuries, the iconic Christkindelsmärik has been spreading its magic in the heart of the European capital. Over 300 wooden chalets, spread across different squares in the city, invite you to enchanting discoveries in a fairy-tale atmosphere.
In the evening, discover the Christmas lights with the entertainment team: Cathedral Square, Place Kléber, Carré d’Or, Place Gutenberg, and more.
Return on board the boat. Dinner and overnight stay on board.
