Day 2-12: Raja Ampat & Spice Islands

Below are the key destinations we visit.

CENDERAWASIH BAY & KWATISORE
Enter Cenderawasih Marine Park in search of the biggest fi sh in the sea, the whale shark. We may have the chance for an early morning snorkel amongst them - the experience of a lifetime. Later, visit a local village and learn about West Papuan customs, culture and the traditional lifestyle of the people.

ROON OR AURI ISLAND
Depending on the weather and conditions, enjoy either Roon or Auri Island. At Roon, a Japanese Zero plane wreck has become a marine habitat, with snorkellers able to see the plane where it rests in shallow water. At Auri Island, we navigate through picturesque island scenery before enjoying beach activities and visiting a local village for traditional dance performances.

MEOSSU (AMSTERDAM) ISLAND
At Meossu Island, white sand beaches slide into clear water - the impressive visibility reveals sunken WWII wrecks. Here, be welcomed by the West Papuan locals, snorkel, and dive in the warm clear water, or enjoy nature walks through the rainforest to spot bird such as Blyth Hornbills

RAJA AMPAT: WAYAG, MISOOL, ALJUI BAY
Raja Ampat, the Four Kings, is an archipelago comprising over 1,500 islands in the heart of the Coral Triangle. Here you will have an experience of nature that is beyond imagination, both above and below the water. Enter the beautiful natural playground of Raja Ampat at Wayag Island. Discover the lagoon’s white sand beaches and the maze of limestone ‘gumdrop’ islands as we swim and snorkel amongst the islands. There is an opportunity for an energetic hike up to famed Pindito Peak, with the reward of breathtaking panoramic views. We may also visit Aljui Bay, Piaynemo or Kawe Islands for incomparable snorkeling and diving over vibrant reefs and with rainbow schools of tropical fish. At Misool we visit Balbulol Lagoon and Yapap where dramatic limestone formations rise from clear turquoise waters. Swim and kayak amongst the islands, or climb for a view over the heart-shaped Dafalen Love Lake.

BANDA ISLAND
On our approach, paddlers in Kora Kora canoes escort us into Banda Neira. Ashore, immerse yourself in the aromas, sights, and sounds of the Spice Islands. Later, explore 17th century Fort Belgica and enjoy dinner and dance performance as the sunsets. HATTA ISLAND At Hatta Island, snorkel and dive amongst vibrant coral gardens and abundant fish species just a few meters from the beach. Enjoy a guided walk through the village to meet school children, and to explore a nutmeg and pepper plantation.

YAMDENA ISLAND
This morning we arrive at one of the ‘Forgotten Islands’, Pulau Yamdena. Take a guided bus tour through a scenic landscape to visit the culture of Sangliat Dol. See the ancient megalithic stone sites of this remarkable place, and experience ritual ceremonies before mingling with the villagers.

This was my first experience with Adventure Life - and I couldn't have been more pleased with the trip. The guides and local staff in both Buenos Aires and Uruguay were terrific - extremely helpful and accommodating. I really enjoyed meeting the friendly staff in Buenos Aires in person (I left my bags with them for the afternoon).
