Sail away to some of the world's most remote and exotic locations on this 13-day Indonesian cruise. Beginning in Bali, board the National Geographic Orion and visit Sumbawa Island, the Lesser Sunda Islands, the Banda Islands, and more. Stop in Komodo National Park to view the world's largest living lizards, the Komodo dragon, which can grow up to 10 feet long. As you sail, fall in love with the passing scenery and idyllic islands that fringe the horizon.
Involves minimal physical effort and is typically associated with leisurely activities. Activities are low-intensity or last less than a few hours each day.
Arrive in Bali and take a scenic tour of the southern part of the island before embarking on the National Geographic Orion.
Day 2: Sumbawa Island
1 Breakfast, 1 Lunch, 1 Dinner
In the morning, arrive at the Indonesian island of Sumbawa and meet the friendly locals which call the island their home. Attend a cultural demonstration and witness a mock traditional wedding and buffalo race.
Day 3: Komodo National Park
1 Breakfast, 1 Lunch, 1 Dinner
At the world renowned Komodo National Park, disembark the ship in search of the world’s largest living lizard: the Komodo dragon. These prehistoric creatures can grow up to ten feet long and weigh 300 lbs. Learn about the conservation of these giants from park rangers on a morning hike and spot the lizards in their natural habitat. Swimming, snorkeling, diving, sea kayaking or relaxing on the beach are all options in the afternoon.
Day 4-6: Lesser Sunda Islands
1 Breakfast, 1 Lunch, 1 Dinner
Forming the boundary between the Savu and Banda Seas, the Lesser Sunda region offers ample opportunity for exploration. Meet the people of these arid islands, which are known for producing some of the finest ikat weaving in the world, then explore the reefs and waters which surround them by Zodiac and kayak. From the decks of the ship, search for the region's abundant dolphin and whale population.
Day 7: Banda Islands
1 Breakfast, 1 Lunch, 1 Dinner
Sail into the heart of the Moluccas and arrive at the Banda Islands. A kora kora, or traditional war canoe, escorts the zodiacs into Banda Neira, once the center of the Spice Island trade and a hub of the Dutch East India Company. Stroll past Dutch architecture and visit Fort Belgica, which was built to protect the spice trade. Nearby, view the near-perfect conical volcano of Gunung Api, and the clear waters which provide some great swimming and snorkeling.
Day 8: At Sea
1 Breakfast, 1 Lunch, 1 Dinner
Spend a day at sea with reefs and islands rich in birds and aquatic life. Join the ship's naturalists on deck with your binoculars and attend talks by the expedition team.
Day 9-11: Raja Ampat
1 Breakfast, 1 Lunch, 1 Dinner
Snorkel and dive one of the richest marine regions in the world over several days at Raja Ampat. Above sea level, the experiences are just as amazing, with lush islands, towering limestone pinnacles, and hidden white-sand coves. Birders may join pre-dawn nature walks to try to catch a glimpse of the ethereal red bird-of-paradise.
Day 12: At Sea
1 Breakfast, 1 Lunch, 1 Dinner
Relax on the ship as it sails for Palau.
Day 13: Palau
1 Breakfast, 1 Lunch
Arrive in the Republic of Palau in the morning and disembark the National Geographic Orion the morning. Transfer to the airport for your continued independent journeys.

We are so glad that we chose Adventure Life. The service is top-notch. Everything is well taken care of and we just have to print the documents and go. Franny even gave us timely updates on possible airport strike.

The response from Adventure Life to my first inquiry was prompt and promising. I worked with Jamie Broeckel, Trip Planner, via text, email, and phone calls- always extremely responsive and thorough with information and explaining the process to arrange a private tour for me to Malaysia Borneo. Within about week, the booking was complete and I made decisions because of Jamie's great customer service , friendly manner, and overall competence on behalf of the company's travel expertise. Now I have an itinerary, additional Trip Planner Assistants, several links for vital information for traveling to Maylasia, etc. Still many details for Sept. trip, but now the heavy lifting is done and I can enjoy the rest of the anticipation and research!! Thanks Jamie- you are amazing!!!!

The trip was not only memorable for the amount of animals we saw but also for the people and accommodations at the two camps where we stayed. Our first guide, BK, was a wealth of information about the animals, landscape and down to the plants and what they were used for. Everyday out was a learning experience with him. All the people at the camps were gracious and the food was excellent.
Our second camp in the Okavanga was just as good as the first as far as the staff, accommodations, food and animals. After our experience at the first camp we amazed that the high quality remained the same. Our guide, G, made sure we were able to enjoy every experience including a rush through the bush to witness a cheetah and an ensuing hunt that he heard over his radio.
In both camps there were enough guides out that if they saw something the other guides were informed which helped in seeing as much as possible. It was also nice that the concessions were large enough that we did not have vehicles following each other throughout the day.
Normally there is always something in a trip of this length that we think could be improved upon but this is the rare case where we cannot think of anything. From the time we left the States to when we returned it was one of the most hassle free vacations we took.
Perhaps emphasizing the use of the laundry facilities at the camps would be useful because of the luggage restrictions would be the only thing I can think of as an improvement to future clients.
