Located amongst the rocky hills of the Palmwag Concession, Desert Rhino Camp boards travelers in a secluded area of Namibia while on an African safari. Eight Meru-style canvas tents are lofted on wooden decks above the desolate terrain and contain twin or double beds, mosquito nets, a comfortable reading chair, and a writing table. Each tent also houses en-suite facilities, including a hand basin, flush toilet, and shower. The large common areas include dining facilities, a lounge area, and a bar.
Desert Rhino Camp functions as a collaborative effort between Wilderness Safaris and the Save the Rhino Trust (SRT) - an NGO that has been instrumental in the preservation of these rare, desert-adapted black rhinos. Having barely survived the slaughter of '80s and '90s throughout other parts of Africa, the black rhino population has doubled since the formation of the SRT.
