The West Canfield Historic District, located on Canfield Avenue between Second and Third streets, is the only block in Detroit lined on both sides with well-preserved Victorian homes and broad sidewalks. Corktown, the city’s oldest neighborhood, has charming little shops and great places to eat. If architecture and history are appealing, visit the Guardian Building. Built in the 1920s, this building known as the Cathedral of Finance, is one of the foremost Art Deco style skyscrapers in the world. In addition to history, the city has many museums to see and experience.

Day 4: Niagara Falls (Port Colborne), ON

  • Ship
  • 1 Breakfast, 1 Lunch, 1 Dinner
We dock at Port Colborne, located on Lake Erie. Originally called Gravelly Bay, after the shallow, bedrock-floored bay upon which it sits, the city traces its roots to the United Empire Loyalist settlements established in the area following the American Revolution. The original village was renamed after Sir John Colborne, the Lieutenant Governor of Upper Canada at the time the Welland Canal’s new southern terminus opened in 1833. In the year 1888, American tourists from southern states began building vacation homes on the lakeshore of the western edge of the town.

INCLUDED SHORE EXCURSIONS: Niagara Falls Included Tour
Hornblower Boat Ride:  Put on your provided poncho and hop aboard the famous Hornblower catamaran! This exhilarating experience will bring you closer to the falls than you ever imagined. Stand on the upper deck or around the outside of the lower deck of the vessel to feel the spray of the falls as we make our approach. Those who wish to stay dry can still see the natural beauty of the falls on the lower level of the boat behind safety glass!

Day 5: Toronto, Ontario, Canada

  • Ship
  • 1 Breakfast, 1 Lunch, 1 Dinner
A Frenchman named Etienne Brule was sent into the “Canadian” wilderness by the famous explorer Samuel de Champlain in the early 1600s. Brule found the river and portage routes from the St. Lawrence Seaway to Lake Huron, possibly Lakes Superior and Michigan, and eventually Lake Ontario. The native Huron peoples had long called this area between the Humber and Don rivers “Toronto,” believed to mean “meeting place.” A bustling village evolved into a French trading post. After the British won the Seven Years’ War, the settlement was renamed York in 1793. More than 40 years later, the city officially became Toronto on March 6, 1834.
Following an unsuccessful American invasion in 1812, several devastating fires, and a rebellion in 1837, there was a slow but steady increase in the population of white Anglo-Saxon Protestants leading into the 20th century. Unlike the USA’s  “melting pot” concept, Toronto can be described as more of a “tossed salad” of ethnic groups.

INCLUDED SHORE EXCURSIONS: Toronto Included Tour
CN Tower:
Enjoy a photo opportunity with this marvel in engineering that stands at 1,815 feet tall. The tower is not only the focal point of the Toronto city skyline but is also one of Canada’s most recognizable landmarks.

Berczy Park Dog Fountain:
This small park in downtown Toronto is home to a majestic fountain that pays homage to none other than man’s best friend. The cheerful design features multiple breeds of our four-legged friends who all have their eyes on the prize—a bone situated at the top of the fountain!

Distillery District:
The former Gooderham & Worts Distillery District was a derelict collection of 47 Victorian industrial buildings until 2003 when it had been restored. Today, the district houses an array of art studios, cafes, and micro-breweries."

Day 6: Gananoque, Ontario, Canada

  • Ship
  • 1 Breakfast, 1 Lunch, 1 Dinner
The port of Gananoque is located at the confluence of the St Lawrence and Gananoque rivers, in the heart of The Thousand Islands – a North American archipelago comprised of 1,864 islands that straddle the Canada-U.S. border in the St Lawrence River as it emerges from Lake Ontario. They stretch for about 50 miles (80 km) downstream from Kingston, Ontario. The Canadian islands are in the province of Ontario and the U.S. islands are in the state of New York. Recognized as one of Eastern Ontario’s most stunning waterfront communities, Gananoque can mean “Water Rising over Rocks” or “Garden of the Great Spirit,” depending on who you ask. And equally colorful is the life of Joel Stone, who was granted the land by the British in 1793.

INCLUDED SHORE EXCURSIONS: Gananoque Included
Embark on a tranquil journey through the 1000 Islands. This intimate cruise will bring you closer than any other to the beautiful group of over 1,800 islands on the St. Lawrence River. As you travel the narrow channels of the Admiralty and Navy islands, see sights that radiate the rich history of the region, from its legends of pirates, titans of industry, and the extravagant cottages of today.

Day 7: Cornwall (St. Lawrence)

  • Ship
  • 2 Breakfasts, 2 Lunches, 2 Dinners

Day 8-9: Quebec City, Quebec

  • Ship
  • 1 Breakfast, 1 Lunch, 1 Dinner
The historic district of Old Québec (a UNESCO world heritage site since 1985) or what is today know as Québec City transports visitors. Just moments in the sleek gentility of this marvelous destination, and you’ll feel as if you were whisked across the Atlantic for a whirlwind European holiday. The old-world charm of this ramparted enclave sounds a siren’s call to visitors. From a raised mound of earth, Château Frontenac – now a hotel – towers toward the heavens over Upper Town, evoking the grandeur of a country estate.

INCLUDED SHORE EXCURSIONS: Quebec City Included Tour
The capital city of Canada’s Quebec province is deeply engaged in its history and its unique place in Canadian culture. Most of the city’s population is French speaking. This coupled with its unique architectural styles radiate an air of European atmosphere in North America. During your visit, you will explore the beauty of the city in the vibrant landscape of Joan of Arc Gardens. For a glimpse into Quebec City’s rich history, visit the Plains of Abraham where the British and French battled for control of the region and see the stunning architecture of Notre-Dame-des-Victories Church.

Joan of Arc Gardens
Explore this vibrant garden featuring a mixture of French and English flowers. As you walk through the lush landscape, appreciate the diverse flowerbeds where over 150 species of flora bloom and encompass the garden’s centerpiece, a statue of Joan of Arc.

Plains of Abraham
This historic site was the location of the 1759 Battle of the Plains of Abraham which took place between the British and French. It was after this battle that the British took control of Quebec, and after the war, were granted control of Canada.

Notre-Dame-des-Victories Church
Built in 1723, this small stone church is one of the oldest in North America. The church is classified as a historic monument. After its destruction during the Siege of Quebec, the church was reconstructed and today remains a significant landmark and place of worship in Quebec City.

Day 10: Montreal, Quebec

Approximately 31 miles long by 10 miles wide, with a 755-foot mountain occupying its center, Montreal was a land mass inhabited by the Iroquois who had lived in Quebec for thousands of years. In 1535, Jacques Cartier from France was among the first to explorer the island. Cartier and his men climbed to the highest point to place a cross, claiming the mountain for France and naming it Mont-Royal. The city of Ville Marie, founded by Paul de Chomedey Maisonneuve in 1642, was later renamed Montreal. In 1759 French colonists were defeated and Montreal was later occupied and administered by Great Britain. Despite being conquered by the British, French Montrealers continued to flourish and exist as the majority on the island over the subsequent decades. Many French Montrealers on the island today still have the last name of a British ancestor. A large number of English-speaking Montrealers also have French last names. When considering metropolitan sophistication, Montreal comes to mind as its geography is as diverse as its population.

INCLUDED SHORE EXCURSIONS: Montreal Included Tour
Mont Royal Overlook
Travel up Mont Royal, to the most spectacular vantage point of Montreal. From here, enjoy a breathtaking view of Montreal and the St. Lawrence River.

As you travel the city streets of Montreal, you would never guess that beneath the city's surface lies an incredible underground pedestrian network and shopping mall. The Underground is Montreal's answer to the cold winter winds but also provides convenient walkways for pedestrians and amazing shopping opportunities year-round.

Notre Dame Basilica
View the wonderful stained-glass windows at the Notre Dame Basilica, one of Montreal's most iconic historical buildings. This cathedral of Montreal is the first church of the Gothic Revival style in Canada. Its historical and artistic heritage makes it a significant symbol of Quebec.
