Mt Kilimanjaro stands proudly above the African Continent, and summiting to its peak is a formidable task for even the most seasoned of trekkers. The Lemosho Trek is considered one of the most scenic, balanced routes to the summit. As one of Kili's newer routes, Lemosho offers panoramic vistas, fewer crowds and high summit success rates, making it an ideal choice for trekkers. This route approaches from the west, winding upwards for 8 days through rain forest, ridge lines and scenic plateaus. Stay in fully supported campsites each night, ensuring you are well-rested for the next day's challenges. Experience the Roof of Africa on this adventurous 11-day itinerary!

Arrive in Tanzania today at Kilimanjaro International Airport. After clearing customs and baggage claim, meet your transfer and drive into Moshi for our first night in Tanzania.
Today is a free day in Moshi to rest and prepare for your trek. Additional excursions can also be arranged, please inquire if you're interested in the following:
Arusha National Park - Introduction to game viewing with options for canoe ride on Small Momela Lake or a walking safari.
Coffee Cooperative and Village Tour - Visit the village of Uru on the slopes of Kilimanjaro which produces some of the world's finest coffee. Get an understanding of village life for people living on Africa's highest mountain.
Mountain Biking - Day trips are available to stretch your legs and explore the backcountry.
In the evening, join a pre-climb briefing with your mountain guide. Retire early for a good night's rest - Kilimanjaro awaits us!
Rise early for a hearty breakfast before transferring to Lemosho Glades (6890 feet). From here we walk to Mti Mkubwa (9186 feet), enjoying the lush flora and fauna along the way. Arrive at Mti Mkubwa to find our campsite set up and dinner in the works. Settle in for our first night in Kilimanjaro National Park.
After breakfast we slowly set out through the Giant Heather Moor Land Zone, where the path crosses through beautiful valleys and streams before making an ascent along the Shira Ridge. On clear days we will find superb views of Shira Plateau and Mount Meru in the distance. Arrive at Shira Camp (11483 feet) for dinner, retiring early under the quiet sky.
Today we set out for a short hike from Shira 1 to Shira 2 Camp. Relax at camp and do some light exploring, allowing your body to acclimatize to the increasingly high altitude.
Depart Shira 2 Camp, hiking for 6 hours into the Alpine Desert and following the gradual path toward Kibo Peak, one of Kilimanjaro's three volcanic cones. After reaching the Buttress Point wedge, the path drops suddenly down to the Barranco Camp where find rest for the evening.
This morning we slowly cross the floor of the great Barranco Valley and up the Barranco Wall, taking in the beauty of the surrounding landscape. Continue to follow the South Circuit path to the Karanga Valley, where camp is set for the evening. This short hiking day is intended for acclimatization - Our summit attempt is fast approaching!
Leave Karanga Camp and the Southern Circuit behind as we continue to climb toward Barafu Hut and link up with the Machame Route. The terrain today is rocky, but offers sweeping views of the summit from several different angles. Arrive at Barafu Camp with plenty of time to familiarize yourself with the exposed ridge area. Head into your tent after dinner to rest before our midnight summit attempt.
A midnight wakeup call means only one thing - it's time to conquer the highest peak in Africa. This section of the route is widely considered one of the steepest of the non-technical paths of Kilimanjaro. First we hike for 7 hours to Stella Point, from where we watch the sun peak out over the horizon. After witnessing the extraordinary sunset, we have just one hour left to Uhuru Peak and the Roof of Africa (19341 feet). Upon reaching the summit, take a moment to celebrate your incredible accomplishment! We then begin our descent to Mweka Camp, arriving and settling in for some much-deserved rest after 11-14 hours of hiking.
This morning we rise early for our final 3-5 hours walking to the Mweka Gate, where we meet our vehicle and leave our adventures on Kilimanjaro National Park behind us. Return to Moshi for a peaceful evening at Kilimanjaro Halisi Lodge, toasting to the triumphs of Kilimanjaro (alternative Kilimanjaro Wonders).

The trip was terrific with great planning on your part. Most of the adventures were not mainstream and somewhat off the beaten path which made it especially enjoyable!! We felt taken care of and you all were readily available to respond to questions and issues. I would highly recommend your company and friends have already expressed interest based on our pictures and excitement.

Adventure Life has been an extraordinary travel resource for us over the years and today was no exception. Our River Cruise booking was handled by Jess (who has been our personal trip planner for several years) the same day as our inquiry. Suggestions were given for cabin choice and pre-trip options (that were not shown on the cruise line's website) like airport transfers and prepaid gratuities. Trip insurance recommendations followed and we were assigned a travel co-ordinator till the end of the tour. All we have to do is show up! Great service from friendly folks.

Our travel was flawless! The rider pickup (airport, hotel, ship) was seamless. Jane's recommendation for Emerald Cruise Sakara was everything I wanted but the experience was soooo much more. Adventure Life took care of each and every detail and this was the easiest of all my travels.
