Yellowstone & Grand Teton Adventure

Arrive in Jackson, Wyoming, the historic town where fur trappers and frontiersmen once gathered. Ringed by mountain ranges and the winding Snake River, Jackson is your gateway to Yellowstone National Park. Meet your group in the early evening for a welcome meeting, followed by an optional welcome dinner. Afterward, the evening is yours to explore town: wander the plaza or stop for a drink at the Million Dollar Cowboy Bar.

Please note the welcome meeting is required, as your leader collects insurance and emergency contact details. If you are running late, let your trip planner or hotel reception know.

Spend the day exploring Grand Teton National Park, where the Teton Range rises above wildlife-rich valleys and clear lakes. Stop at Jenny Lake to take in the peaks, then hike to Inspiration Point or take the optional round-trip boat shuttle across the lake for views of the Tetons from the water. Have a picnic and keep watch for moose and grizzly bears; you may also see elk, beavers, and black bears. Continue to the Gros Ventre River and Antelope Flats to look for bison and antelope herds, then visit the Mormon Row Historic District to see the Moulton Barn with the Tetons behind it. In the evening, head out with your group for a western-style chuck wagon dinner at a local restaurant.

Please note Grand Teton National Park does not allow commercially guided day hikes, so any hiking in the park is self-guided.

This morning, drive north from Jackson into Yellowstone National Park, the country's first national park and a mountain wilderness home to bears, wolves, and herds of bison and elk. Today you explore the park's northern loop with your leader, stopping at the Grand Canyon of the Yellowstone, a showcase of the park's dramatic geological history, and passing Norris Geyser Basin, the hottest and oldest of Yellowstone's thermal areas, along with other sights on the loop. With three full days in the park, you have time to take in each site at your own pace. Settle into your hotel in Gardiner, your base for the next three nights.

Your travel time today is approximately 5 hours, plus time spent in the park

Spend a full day on Yellowstone's southern loop. Watch Old Faithful Geyser send more than 4,000 gallons (14,000 liters) of boiling water into the air, then see the startling colors of Grand Prismatic Spring, so keep your camera ready. Along the way, look out for wildlife, including moose and birdlife.

Yellowstone covers a lot of ground: you spend about 9 to 10 hours in the park today, with roughly 4 hours of that in the vehicle.

Rise very early for your last day in Yellowstone and join a naturalist wildlife guide on a wolf-tracking outing in a quieter, less-visited section of the park. The area is well suited to searching for wolves, along with bison, elk, and bears, and high-power binoculars are provided to give you the best chance of spotting them. Afterward, visit Mammoth Hot Springs before returning to your hotel. The afternoon is free to rest, and in the evening you can join an optional farewell dinner with your group.

Please note the early start and remote locations make it a good idea to pack snacks for the wolf-tracking experience.

Today you spend about 9 to 10 hours in the park, including roughly 4 hours in the vehicle.

This morning after breakfast, take a scenic drive back to Jackson. Follow the western edge of the Tetons through Idaho, then cross the Snake River into Wyoming. You arrive in Jackson in the mid-afternoon, where your trip comes to an end. To extend your stay, let your trip planner know.
