Day 1: Into the Heart of Denali

Your Denali adventure begins at 1:30 pm from the Denali railroad depot where you board a bus for the 90-plus mile journey into the heart of Denali National Park.* The full day narrated bus experience offers a natural history interpretation along the way by a trained naturalist guide and driver. Keep watch for bear, moose, caribou and other wildlife as you venture deeper into the wilderness. The 7.5-hour bus ride includes photo opportunities and takes several rest stops to stretch your legs. Complimentary beverages and snacks for purchase are available on board. Upon arrival, enjoy a hearty dinner at Denali Backcountry lodge before settling into your cabin.

* Buses leave from the park entrance promptly at 1:30 pm based on the train's arrival from Fairbanks.  A motorcoach service from Anchorage can also be arranged this day as well as train from Anchorage or Talkeetna, but it will require an additional night at the park entrance the day before to meet with the bus transportation.

Day 2-3: Denali Backcountry Adventures

  • Hotel
  • 2 Breakfasts, 2 Lunches, 2 Dinners
These days are free for you to explore all that this remote location has to offer. Enjoy morning yoga or take a shuttle to nearby Wonder Lake for fishing or hiking. Mountain bikes are also available for guests to use as they explore the area, or set out on one of the guided naturalist hikes offered by the lodge. Spa treatments and flightseeing tours are also options for an additional fee. The days are yours to explore Denali National Park how you wish!

Day 4: Train to Anchorage

  • 1 Breakfast
Join the return bus back to the Park Entrance this morning. As an alternative, we can arrange a flight seeing trip back to the park entrance instead of the bus for an additional cost.  Your journey with Adventure Life ends here.

*From the park entrance, you will be traveling independently.  We suggest catching the Gold Star Train back to Fairbanks or Anchorage. On this route, sparkling salmon streams and stands of birch and spruce come into view, while carpets of fireweed add dramatic purple to the landscape. Enjoy luxury rail service with upper level dome seating as well as lunch and dinner enroute.  We are happy to help travelers arrange this for an additional cost.

This was our first trip to South America and we were a little nervous. But Adventure Life made things so easy! All our questions were answered before we left, and our guide, Vidal, was amazing! He gave us enough space to explore without rushing us along. He also knew where the best picture taking opportunities were, which was great.
