Photos / Our Ecuadorian Amazon Adventure

Sacha Lodge, located in the heart of Ecuadorian Rainforest
Two-hour boat ride down the Napo River
The Interstate Highway
Canoe ride down a jungle stream
Across a black-water lake to the lodge
Once there, we found our lodging beautiful and comfortable
View from our back porch
We found the jungle to be full of colorful and exotic flower
over 1,100 species of trees per quarter square kilometer . .
. . . the diversity is astounding!
Of equal beauty and diversity were the jungle creatures. . .
They were spotted on the ground and in the water . .
. . .high in the trees and flying thru the air
Not all the creatures of the jungle are creepy crawlies
It was fun watching these cute playful squirrel monkeys
Birds of the rainforest were even more abundant
Can you spot Waldo?
These green parrots blend in well with the green foliage
Even more of a challenge-can you see the bird in this photo?
We also went above the treetops to get a bird’s eye view
It was quite foggy when we arrived early in the morning.
But soon cleared for some fantastic views and bird watching
We also climbed the ultimate tree house for more views
We did some piranha fishing
watch out for those teeth
Guess who caught the first one? She’s all smiles.
Life for the indigenous people
We visited a local family
The little girls were a bit shy at first . . .
. . . but soon were all smiles
They prepared us a traditional meal
Larva on a stick. And yes they were tasty.
One fish that is better for you to bite before he bites you
