Southeast Asia is forever in my heart - Bali - 2019/2020

Offerings at a Balinese temple (Rae Brouwer)Before COVID hit I was making my way through the travel industry like a giddy child. Spending day after day talking about these incredible adventures with travelers such as yourself- what a dream! Then, I had the opportunity to not only make my own adventure abroad but actually live in it! During the 11-months leading up to COVID I lived and breathed Bali, Indonesia. Having been to Indonesia several times before, but never Bali, this was my first extended experience on such an alive and hip island. Though I made trips to neighboring islands and countries to find a bit of calm in all the mix, I must say, Bali is a very special place.
The people of Bali are exactly what you expect from Indonesia. Kind, loving, good character, strong nature, and very family-oriented. There’s not much they won't do for you and there isn't anything they won't do for their neighbor. Excited to share their culture and their history, the Balinese have a unique perspective of Indonesian history and colonization. Though mostly removed from Dutch colonization, Bali was able to preserve and maintain much of its original culture. This you can see left and right, covering every inch of the island.
Rich in history and color, Bali offers those beaches you want to find, think you’ll find, and will find. White sand, tasty seafood, and warm breezes keep you wrapped up in Bali’s love. Volcanoes, jungles, and the biggest moon you’ll ever see keep watch over the Balinese. Nature is prized by the locals and though it requires a bit of a drive to the North and is well worth the time visiting.
I would be remiss to not give a shout-out to Lombok as well, Bali's neighboring island. This less-visited island is a bit more primitive and far less westernized. You are far more likely to experience rooted culture, nature, and scenery not often seen by the traveler's eye. The people of Lombok are warm and inviting, and just as curious as you.
Hotel options are abundant. Everything from simple mom-and-pop-owned hostels and rooms to 6+ star private luxury resorts. But don’t think you’ll be missing out on Balinese culture by staying at one or the other. Even the biggest hotels in Bali take pride in what their local culture offers. Decor, spas, and eateries, right down to your private pool villas will nurture Balinese local goods, customs, and flare.
Indonesia and the island of Bali are magical. With that magic comes a bit of everything from exquisite culinary delights to the most incredible underwater marine life (ask me about Sabang, Aceh!) you’ll ever experience. If you seek a true cultural experience, opening your eyes to the wonders of the world, Indonesia is just for you.
I spent 2 entire days trying to find my Alaska small boat trip, with no success. Then Erin from Adventure Life gave me 4 choices on the same day I contacted her. She was caring and very efficient. I'm very excited about the cruise she found for me.

Everything about our Galapagos experience was top-notch. I highly recommend this trip if you like be active. Everyone from the planners to the guides to the crew set us up to experience and soak in everything the Galapagos has to offer. They took care of every detail so we could learn and enjoy.

We had an amazing trip. The accommodations of our hotel first 3 nights and the accommodations of the ship were perfect. Our guides were amazing. They went snorkeling with us everyday and took amazing pictures and pointed out various species of fish. On the land adventures, they explained everything about the islands and animals that we were looking for and seeing. They also took amazing photos and videos that they shared with us in a whats app group with the entire ship. This gave us the ability to upload our own video and pictures along with other shipmates so we all got these great photos from everyone. It was a once in a lifetime trip that left us with many amazing memories and very possible we would consider going back.
