We spent our days on South Water Caye with no plans. We were able to play in the sand, swim, read, take naps, play games, kayak, fish and snorkel whenever we wanted. Meals were served in a two hour window so we could loosely plan our activities around that. But the best part about this type of vacation was we didn’t really have to plan much. The hotel brought us a big crate full of sand toys, and our kids were set for the week. Mabel, our 2 year old, wanted to just dig and play in the water. She was perfectly content in about 6 inches of warm water digging in the sand. Our 4 year old Henry was a bit more active, but he mostly only ventured out to waste deep water unless he was practicing with his snorkel mask.
The water was so warm and calm, we were able to just bob along, swim back and forth, and get up on the swim dock whenever we wanted to dry off. There was some seagrass once you reached chest-deep water but the sand was easy on our feet and the swimming was perfect.
The snorkeling was great even from our beach, and Henry got to be quite a fan of snorkeling! We weren’t able to swim all the way out to the coral but we saw tons of fish and even a stingray (from a safe distance) right close to the island. The current was lazy, and slowly took us from the dock near our cabana to the other side of the beach where we got out, walked back and did it again.
We grabbed the kayaks from the beach a few times, loaded up the kids and paddled to the far side of the island. Below us swam rays and fish and pelicans bobbed and dove into the water all around. Other times we played beach Jenga or corn hole, or read books in the hammocks. The kids took long naps in the afternoon, allowing me to read and relax while Evan went fishing for bonefish on the lagoon side of the island.
We normally are more active when we travel, but taking the time to slow down and just enjoy the island was exactly what we needed.
First class all the way. Enjoyed our Guide, Karla, Driver Mark so much. Personalized tour of Antigua during Easter was like a National Geographic in person. Trip of the Lifetime. Such a spiritual and magical tour. Many Thanks.

The response from Adventure Life to my first inquiry was prompt and promising. I worked with Jamie Broeckel, Trip Planner, via text, email, and phone calls- always extremely responsive and thorough with information and explaining the process to arrange a private tour for me to Malaysia Borneo. Within about week, the booking was complete and I made decisions because of Jamie's great customer service , friendly manner, and overall competence on behalf of the company's travel expertise. Now I have an itinerary, additional Trip Planner Assistants, several links for vital information for traveling to Maylasia, etc. Still many details for Sept. trip, but now the heavy lifting is done and I can enjoy the rest of the anticipation and research!! Thanks Jamie- you are amazing!!!!

The trip was not only memorable for the amount of animals we saw but also for the people and accommodations at the two camps where we stayed. Our first guide, BK, was a wealth of information about the animals, landscape and down to the plants and what they were used for. Everyday out was a learning experience with him. All the people at the camps were gracious and the food was excellent.
Our second camp in the Okavanga was just as good as the first as far as the staff, accommodations, food and animals. After our experience at the first camp we amazed that the high quality remained the same. Our guide, G, made sure we were able to enjoy every experience including a rush through the bush to witness a cheetah and an ensuing hunt that he heard over his radio.
In both camps there were enough guides out that if they saw something the other guides were informed which helped in seeing as much as possible. It was also nice that the concessions were large enough that we did not have vehicles following each other throughout the day.
Normally there is always something in a trip of this length that we think could be improved upon but this is the rare case where we cannot think of anything. From the time we left the States to when we returned it was one of the most hassle free vacations we took.
Perhaps emphasizing the use of the laundry facilities at the camps would be useful because of the luggage restrictions would be the only thing I can think of as an improvement to future clients.
