Belize is wonderful, so much diversity, jungle, animals, beautiful birds, ruins, barrier reef (which is the second largest in the world). I loved the jungle, the people that I met on our Belize tour, the children playing like kids are supposed to play, and family unity. I am so grateful that I was able to go on our Belize trip and experience everything that I did. Can't wait for the next adventure...
Melissa and the baby Tapir at the Belize Zoo (Laurie Shacknove)After a bit of a bumpy landing we arrived in Belize and were met at the airport by Francisco our awesome, terrific guide for the next few days. After we picked up another fellow Adventure Life traveler, we headed to the Belize Zoo a small but totally great place. The Belize Zoo has many of the animals and birds found in Belize. My daughter Melissa, got to feed Tapirs, which she was so excited to be able to do. It is such a nice, peaceful place with winding paths, and little nooks where you will come upon some other creature indigenous to Belize. Then off we go to Pooks Hill, driving on some of the bumpiest roads, it was an adventure just getting there, but in a totally good way. Around a bend, up a hill and we come upon one of the coolest places I have every stayed. We are welcomed by Vicki and managers Kat and Dave, and I already feel like I am visiting good friends.
