Day 1: Bridgetown, Barbados | Embark

Bridgetown, the capital of Barbados, offers a mix of colonial heritage, local culture, and scenic Caribbean coast. A UNESCO World Heritage Site, it features historic colonial architecture and landmarks tied to its past as a key British port in the Transatlantic Slave Trade. Along The Careenage, colorful buildings line the waterfront, where boats dock and a boardwalk provides a relaxing walk.

Nearby Carlisle Bay is known for its white sands and shallow, turquoise waters. Snorkelers and divers explore shipwrecks full of marine life, including sea turtles. In nearby streets, food stalls serve local dishes like spicy soups, barbecued meats, and fresh coconut water.

Broad Street has souvenir shops and duty-free stores, while Roebuck Street highlights the island’s rum history, with bars offering tastings. The Nidhe Israel Synagogue, built in 1654, tells the story of Barbados’ Jewish community through its museum and preserved structure.

Day 2: Bequia, Saint Vincent and the Grenadines

Bequia Island, part of the Grenadines, offers a quiet, authentic Caribbean escape with uncrowded golden beaches, clear bays, and a laid-back local vibe. Home to just 6,000 residents, it’s easy to settle into the slow pace and friendly atmosphere. Admiralty Bay welcomes visitors with calm waters and anchored yachts, while the small town of Port Elizabeth features a lively produce market, a turtle sanctuary, and handmade model boat stalls.

The island’s landscape mixes forested hills, almond trees, and scenic coastlines. A short hike up Mount Peggy offers sweeping views of St. Vincent and Grenada. Bequia’s top beaches include the calm, crescent-shaped Princess Margaret Beach. Evenings often bring relaxed beachside barbecues or local rum drinks at simple wooden bars. Bequia stands apart as a rustic, low-key destination far from the crowds.

Explore a land of vibrant color, from the tranquil turquoise water surrounding it to the verdant green peaks of the famous soaring volcanic plugs - The Pitons; which give this mesmerizing island its form. Waterfalls thunder in the jungled interior, should you successfully drag yourself from St. Lucia's gleaming beaches and dive spots - where patchworks of colorful fish dance below the waves. Offering the picturesque island luxury of your wildest dreams, St. Lucia is a cinematic, thrilling Caribbean idyll. Marigot Bay served as the tropical backdrop for 1967's Doctor Dolittle film, and the island's amiable animal life is never too far away - spot flashes of bright red, as parrots zip between palm trees, before catching sight of dolphins splashing playfully offshore. Vigie Beach is a charmed spot to lie back and recline in the sun's glow, watching as overlapping layers of mesmerizing blue hues intertwine. St. Lucia's iconic Pitons deliver the perfect backdrop to any envy-generating photograph - rising exponentially from the calm waters like sharp shark fins. Castries is this heavenly island's capital, and while the Cathedral Basilica of the Immaculate Conception may seem a little humble from the outside, the soft sounds of soulful hymns emanating from within are sure to draw you in. The astonishing interior glows with bright frescoes, lit up by the sunlight that spills inside, and atmospheric rows of flickering candles. There's also rich Caribbean color to behold at the ramshackle Castries Market, where you can take handfuls of fragrant spices, like nutmeg and cinnamon, and enjoy the singsong ritual of bartering as you

Day 4: Deshaies, Guadeloupe

Deshaies’s natural, sheltered harbor, the deepest of the Caribbean, has always attracted seafarers. Long ago it was a haven for buccaneers, and it’s said there’s still hidden treasure on the island. Postcard pretty, with painted wooden creole homes, gathered around a little church, it won’t take you long to discover Deshaies’s - a hidden gem.

Whilst rightly associating Guadeloupe with transparent seas, lapping pristine beaches of colored sands, the island of Basse-Terre boasts so much more.

Benefitting from farsighted, ecological measures, both land and sea have been protected, resulting in a rich biodiversity waiting to be discovered. Whatever your energy levels, from the very active, to those who simply want to recharge their batteries, there’s a landscape just for you.

Trek through tropical forests, passing hot springs, and spectacular waterfalls to reach the smoldering crater of a volcano, bringing out the adventurer in you.

Stroll around the manicured botanical gardens amongst jeweled colored, exotic birds.

Cool off whilst exploring from a huge choice of unspoiled beaches, including the famous expansive Grande Anse, with its red sands and palm trees. Dive deep in the water, and swim with turtles. Revel in the panoramic beauty over a drink at sunset, accompanied by delicious, traditional Antilles cuisine.

If any of this piece of paradise looks familiar, it could be because since 2011, it’s been the setting of the much-enjoyed BBC television series Death in Paradise. Get in on the act

Raise a glass to the immaculate surroundings of Roseau, where beautiful beaches - alive with fine bubbles fizzing upwards from the geothermal activity below - wait for you. Dive into extraordinary snorkeling and diving experiences, amongst thriving marine life, active corals, and live volcanoes concealed below the waves. With attractive volcanic sands to relax on, and glorious, jungled mountains to explore, Roseau is an intoxicating welcome to Dominica's Caribbean island appeal. Nestled on the west coast, Roseau is the island's capital and a city surrounded by sprawling banana plantations, and cocoa fields. First taken by the French, then the British, a strong colonial imprint mingles with the local flare. Nowadays Old Market Square is crammed with locals trading huge vegetables, colorful fruits, and handmade jewelry - but the square has a darker past, and was the center of the island's slave trade. Head up to the former British fort, which offers a panoramic, postcard-perfect view from the top, of Roseau and the lush green mountains behind. The large botanical gardens offer more magnificent views, and you can walk amongst thriving tropical plant life, as parrots flutter, and add splashes of color to the greenery. The rainforest around the city conceals rich wildlife and waterfalls spilling into splash pools, while plantations give a taste of the island's heritage. You can also discover the second-largest hot spring in the world - Boiling Lake - which brews with angry volcanic activity in the steamy Morne Trois Pitons National Park. The hiking and snorkeling can take its strain - so simmer away any stiffness in a mineral-rich hot pool, or by indulging in a rum punch or two.

Day 6: Charlestown (Nevis), Saint Kitts and Nevis

Glorious golden beaches, fiery sunsets, and verdant tropical backdrops await at Nevis - a picturesque sliver of Caribbean heaven, and the smaller twin of Saint Kitts. The sight of the island's golden sands, lying before the verdant backdrop of Nevis Peak's clouded taper, is sure to mesmerize you - just as it moved Christopher Columbus, the first European to encounter these majestic islands in 1493. Charlestown serves as the laidback capital of Nevis and is peppered with a charming assortment of baby blue colonial architecture. The perfume of incense hangs heavy in the air at the Botanical Gardens of Nevis - where orchids open up in the bright sunshine, and fountains trickle among the green haven of tropical plants. The simple pleasure of a vivid sunset is one of a myriad of reasons why Nevis is such a sought-after destination, and the nightly explosions of salmon-pinks and blood-reds that spill across the sky never fade in impact. Head to the magnificent Pinney's Beach - which stretches for more than three miles - to stroll through turquoise water and caramel-colored sand. Lovers Beach offers an alternative flavor in a quieter, breathlessly romantic setting - laying out views across the Atlantic rollers to St Kitts before you. Shipwrecks wait, strewn just offshore, and enthusiastically embraced by abundant marine life. Scuba dive to explore the skeletal wrecks firsthand, as clownfish zip between the broken boughs of doomed vessels. Booby High Shoals is a popular diving spot where you can meet curious sea turtles, gliding through the water.

Day 7: St. John's, Antigua and Barbuda

Lush and lively, Antigua is a bedazzling Caribbean destination, gorged with sunshine and crisp white sand beaches. Historic forts, sparkling coastline, and dense rainforest all contribute to Antigua's land of thrilling natural beauty. With its bright blue to turquoise sea gradients - the beaches are vibrant and plentiful, and the island has no shortage to choose from, with a rumored 365 options. Experience the beauty on horseback, as your ride pounds across the sands, and the wind whips through your hair. Choose to loll in a catamaran offshore, or lay back on a bed of the softest sand to soak it all in. Beach shacks cook up fresh seafood and spicy goat meat curries if you're feeling hungry. St. John's glows in the sunshine, with flamingo pink and baby blue paint boldly coating vivid Georgian buildings. Lively markets offer an authentic slice of Antiguan life, while museums celebrate the island's revered cricketers like Viv Richards, and the story of independence. The whacks and whoops of makeshift cricket games hint at the island's British history, and you can see more of this heritage at Falmouth Harbour - which was center of the British presence in the Caribbean. The area is still filled with sailors and docked yachts, as well as the only working Georgian dockyard in the world. Constructed in 1725, the UNESCO World Heritage Site, Nelson's Dockyard, was led by the admiral Horatio Nelson himself and is a fascinating time warp. Hike up to viewpoints here, which offer glorious views of the forest-clad inlets, craggy cliffs, and pointed hills. The stone towers of sugar mills dot the island, and hint at the tragic history of slavery, amid the island's sugar trade past.

Day 8: Gustavia, St. Barthelemy, Saint Barthelemy

Cherry red roofs, yacht-sprinkled bays, and a sophisticated French flavor all add to the gorgeous Caribbean allure of Gustavia. The island's capital rolls around a horseshoe-shaped harbor, where gleaming yachts hover and fancy shops, bars, and restaurants buzz with life and clinking cutlery. Head up to red and white Gustavia Lighthouse to look down over the revered waters, which attract many a celebrity guest and diving enthusiast to these shores. Christopher Columbus was the first European to discover this volcanic island in 1493, giving it the name St. Barthelemy in honor of his younger brother. The island has a unique history as a Swedish colony, following a deal with the French King Louis XVI to exchange the island with Sweden for better trading rights. It was returned to French control in 1878 and is now a French Overseas Collectivity. Learn more about the Swedish legacy at Fort Karl - which sits on a 29-meter-high hill above Shell Beach. The fort now lies in ruins, but you'll meet wandering iguanas, and the sweeping sea views and emerald coastline are some of the island's finest. Down below, a delightful spread of tiny pebbles and shell fragments scatter like confetti and is lapped by crystal-clear water. A little exploration uncovers countless other glorious beaches and natural wonders. Colombier Beach is a little out of the way but cradles silky-smooth sands and typically turquoise waters. If you have the chance, find somewhere to settle and sip fruity rum cocktails as the sunset flares across the waves.

Colorful houses speckle the rolling green hills of Tortola Island, overlooking tempting electric blue waters. Let the unspoiled British Virgin Islands scenery wash over you, as you look out over secluded coves of heavenly beaches, and quiet yacht-filled bays. Road Town is an ideal base for island hopping to the scattered charms of this volcanic archipelago - whether you choose to head out to the dazzling white sand beaches of Anegada, Virgin Gorda’s boulder-strewn caves, or Jost Van Dyke’s famous beach bars. A quieter, more secluded escape than some of the Caribbean’s resorts, Road Town is a laid-back slice of paradise, offering an indulgent selection of serene beaches, fringed by thick layers of palm trees. Strap on your snorkeling mask to submerge in warm water that glistens with swirling fish - spot squirrelfish and clownfish among the reef's many inhabitants. Snorkel leisurely, or dive among the turtles and sleek stingrays that glide through Salt Island Bay’s life-filled shipwreck. For an alternative to the beaches, take on Sage Mountain’s challenge, to tour through a dense mesh of redolent white cedar and mahogany trees. Learn of sugar cane and rum production history – which go hand in hand here - or shop to pick through local jewelry or handcrafted metalwork. Get a flavor of island cuisine, by enjoying succulent flying fish sandwiches, or follow your nose to spicy barbecues producing pork roti with a fiery jerk kick on the sand. Round off your meal with a sweet guava pastry.

Day 10-11: Day at Sea

Days at sea are the perfect opportunity to relax, unwind, and catch up with what you've been meaning to do. So whether that is going to the gym, visiting the spa, whale-watching, catching up on your reading, or simply topping up your tan, these blue sea days are the perfect balance to busy days spent exploring shoreside.

Day 12: Fort Lauderdale, Florida, United States

Miles of sandy beaches, lively outdoor events, and a charming web of waterways help to make Fort Lauderdale a relaxed, vacation capital of Florida. The excitement is palpable, as cruise ships and gleaming yachts gather in the harbor ahead of adventures and luxury journeys across the waves. Soak up the relaxed atmosphere in the canal-laced “Venice of America,” as you enjoy big-label shopping on Las Olas Boulevard - or visit fancy restaurants and bustling art galleries. For a wilder experience, the swampy wetlands of the Everglades sprawl away nearby. Fort Lauderdale Beach is a lively stretch of sand, bordered by palm trees, and sprinkled with crowds enjoying the Sunshine State's sunny weather. The charming promenade of red-brick tiles extends right along the beach's length and rumbles with passing rollerbladers and cyclists. Glide across the waves while parasailing or relax with a coffee or a margarita in a beachfront bar, as volleyball games play out in front of you. For a quieter beach option, Las Olas Beach lies a little down the coast towards Port Everglades and has extra space to spread out and tan on smooth white sand. Spot alligators waiting patiently, and the toothy grins of crocodiles patrolling the murky waters of the Everglades - the USA's largest tropical wetlands. A haven of extraordinary wildlife, birds wade through its swamps, and black bears and panthers roam its wilds. Take a scenic flight to appreciate the full scale of the national park or zip along exploring its waterways in a fan-powered boat.

Day 13-14: Day at Sea

Days at sea are the perfect opportunity to relax, unwind, and catch up with what you've been meaning to do. So whether that is going to the gym, visiting the spa, whale-watching, catching up on your reading, or simply topping up your tan, these blue sea days are the perfect balance to busy days spent exploring shoreside.

Day 15: Spanish Town, British Virgin Islands

Compact, but utterly gorgeous, the third biggest of the British Virgin Isles is one of the region's most spectacular - and a truly indulgent Caribbean escape to rejuvenate the senses. Sprinkled amid the mansions and private islands of the rich and famous, Virgin Gorda has somehow retained its secluded, castaway paradise atmosphere. Translating as Fat Virgin, the island was given its unusual name by Colombus, who noted the protruding stomach of the island's shape. Visit to dive deep into the island's relaxed essence, and to gorge on endless expanses of idyllic beaches and dreamy coastline. Visit a trademark white sand beach - like the slice of paradise at Savannah Bay - or rise up to the perspective offered from the elevated heights of Gorda Peak. At its southern end, Devil's Bay National Park provides a haven of relaxation, amid geothermal pools and mounds of scattered boulders. Secluded caves and rock pockets fill with seawater at the Baths, forming the perfect spot to sink into the welcoming water and unwind. Whether you choose one of the beaches here, or head to the island's plethora of other options, chances are you'll only be able to resist the call of the waves for so long. With tempting temperatures and electric blue overtones, the seas here are the quintessential Caribbean experience. Snorkelers also have rich pickings among crystal clear diving sites - blossoming with colorful fish and sea life.

Day 16: St John, U.S. Virgin Islands

Like so many of the islands in the Caribbean, 2017's double whammy of hurricanes Irma and Maria devastated much of St. John. However, as relief funds get funneled into rebuilding, normality is gradually being restored, and St. John version 2.0 is emerging - bolder, brighter, and better. St. John's small size might just give it the edge over other desert islands. The U.S. purchased the tiny landmass (at just nine miles long, the island is the smallest of the three American Virgin Islands) from the West India and Guinea Company in 1917 and it remains under U.S. govern to this day. Historically speaking however St. John is Danish, who colonized it for almost 250 years before its sale to America. The Virgin Island National Park covers almost two-thirds of the island, meaning visually St. John is stunning and will remain that way for generations to come. This "gift" to the world comes thanks to Laurence Rockefeller who in 1956 gave the 5,000 acres of lush forest to the people of the island, with the caveat that it become a national park. Thus, velvety green hills slope into picture-perfect white sand beaches, which are ringed by turquoise seas. One very definite winner of the tourism hiatus since 2017 has been the marine wildlife. Underwater life was barely affected by the storms and the subsequent lack of tourism has allowed the eco-systems to propagate. The island's abundant coral reefs were not overly affected by the storms and today the waters are teeming with sea turtles, reef sharks, and sting rays.

    Day 19: Fort-de-France, Martinique

The largest of the Windward Islands, Martinique is 4,261 miles from Paris, but its spirit and language are decidedly French, with more than a soupçon of West Indian spice. Tangible, edible evidence of this fact is the island's cuisine, a superb blend of French and Creole. Martinique is lushly landscaped with tropical flowers. Trees bend under the weight of fruits such as mangoes, papayas, lemons, limes, and bright-red West Indian cherries. Acres of banana plantations, pineapple fields, and waving sugarcane stretch to the horizon. The towering mountains and verdant rainforest in the north lure hikers, while underwater sights and sunken treasures attract snorkelers and scuba divers. Martinique is also wonderful if your idea of exercise is turning over every 10 minutes to get an even tan and your taste in adventure runs to duty-free shopping. A popular cruise-ship excursion goes to St-Pierre, which was buried by ash when Mont Pelée erupted in 1902.

Day 20: Castries (St. Lucia), Saint Lucia

There's also rich Caribbean color to behold at the ramshackle Castries Market, where you can take handfuls of fragrant spices, like nutmeg and cinnamon, and enjoy the singsong ritual of bartering as you move between tables heaving beneath bounties of green bananas and rosy mangoes.

Day 21: Bequia, Saint Vincent and the Grenadines

An almost mythical utopia of virgin beaches, rustic rum shacks, and bays so scenic you feel like you're intruding - Bequia Island is an island mirage of Caribbean perfection. This is the real, unspoiled experience - and with just 6,000 locals living here, you quickly start to recognize the same smiling faces, welcoming you with outstretched arms. Offering glorious - often deserted - beaches of pure golden sand, and hillside sweeps of forest and almond trees, Bequia Island is an extraordinary feast for the senses. Unlike some of the flashier Caribbean islands, Bequia - a part of the Grenadines - is a rustic, unassuming, and off-the-beaten-path choice. The staggeringly picturesque natural harbor, Admiralty Bay, greets you on arrival and is peppered with day-tripping yachts bobbing on the gentle waves. The island's tiny capital, Port Elizabeth, sits behind, with a bustling fruit and vegetable market, turtle sanctuary, and stalls selling hand-crafted model ships. This tiny, pretty island is ridged along the center, and you can earn your beachside bliss with a gentle hike to the top of Mount Peggy, looking out over views of Grenada and St. Vincent. At just seven miles long, you can discover the whole island in a few hours - but that would be to miss the point somewhat. Bequia Island coaxes you in to slow the pace and soothe your soul on blissful beaches, where you can revel in the uncomplicated joys of sitting, reading, and swimming in heavenly shallow waters. The royally approved Princess Margaret Beach is one of the finest - an arching band of soft sand and cobalt-blue waters. As evening sets in, you may find you're beckoned to share communal barbecues of the day's fresh catch with the locals or indulge in rum-heavy cocktails at beachside bars, lashed together from sea-blanched wooden limbs.

This was our first trip to South America and we were a little nervous. But Adventure Life made things so easy! All our questions were answered before we left, and our guide, Vidal, was amazing! He gave us enough space to explore without rushing us along. He also knew where the best picture taking opportunities were, which was great.
