Story

Since launching in 1994 as the world’s first all-inclusive luxury global cruise line, Silversea Cruises sets the standard for luxury and expedition cruising. Recognized as the “jewel in the crown” of the Royal Caribbean Group, Silversea Cruises officially becomes part of the Group in July 2018 when Royal Caribbean Group acquires two-thirds of the cruise line’s shares, followed by the remaining shares in July 2020. You travel in one of the most inclusive luxury cruise experiences, with butler service in every suite, a choice of restaurants on every ship, 24-hour in-suite dining, premium beverages throughout the ship, and true all-inclusive service. You explore all seven continents through immersive journeys and carefully curated experiences in the world’s most remarkable destinations. The fleet includes four luxury expedition ships and eight classic vessels, offering elegance, spacious comfort, conviviality, and whispered luxury. Since June 2020, Silversea Cruises expands the fleet with Silver Origin, Silver Moon, Silver Dawn, Silver Endeavour, Silver Nova, and Silver Ray, bringing the fleet to 12 ships. Innovation continues with the launch of Silver Moon in October 2020, introducing the groundbreaking S.A.L.T. culinary program, later featured aboard Silver Dawn, Silver Nova, and Silver Ray, allowing you to discover destinations through regional food and drink. The Otium wellness program aboard Silver Dawn, Silver Nova, and Silver Ray delivers an indulgent approach to wellness inspired by the Roman lifestyle. In July 2022, Silver Endeavour joins the fleet as the world’s most luxurious expedition ship, designed to take you to the most remote destinations, including both polar regions. Building on the Royal Caribbean Group’s sustainability efforts, Silver Nova and Silver Ray introduce pioneering technologies, innovative asymmetrical ship designs, and improved energy efficiency standards that continue to push the boundaries of sustainable luxury cruising.

In June 2023, Silversea Cruises becomes the first cruise line to receive certification in environmental management for an initiative that diverts all refuse from San Cristóbal's landfill. Staff and crew aboard Silver Origin develop a system that transports all waste, except organic material, to the Ecuadorian mainland for recycling, processing, or incineration, leaving zero waste in the island's landfill. This initiative follows the regulatory procedures established by Ecuador's Ministry of Environment and reflects Silversea Cruises' long-term commitment to sustainability and conservation in the Galápagos Islands.

You contribute to protecting the islands by supporting responsible tourism that safeguards the fragile ecosystem while helping preserve the local economy, where many residents depend on tourism. Silversea Cruises continually refines environmental practices through education, waste management, and conservation initiatives to ensure the Galápagos remain protected for future generations.

Silversea Cruises also supports local communities by sourcing fresh produce and other products from independent farms and suppliers on Santa Cruz and San Cristóbal. Buying locally helps prevent pests from entering the islands from other countries, reducing environmental risks while supporting local businesses and preserving the unique biodiversity of the Galápagos.
