Moderately active but not overly strenuous. This level includes activities like casual cycling, yoga, or excursions/activities that typically last 3-5 hours total each day.
Arrive at Mataveri International Airport on Easter Island (Rapa Nui). After landing, meet the driver and transfer to your hotel in Hanga Roa, the island’s main town. Check in and settle into Taha Tai Hotel, a beachfront property within walking distance of restaurants, shops, and cultural sites.
Hit the ground running with a half-day excursion once you are all checked in. Visit Ahu Akivi, a rare site where seven moai statues face the ocean, said to represent the first explorers sent by King Hotu Matua. Next, stop at Ahu Hanga Poukura, an unrestored site with toppled moai and pukao—the red stone topknots symbolizing status or identity. Continue to Puna Pau, the quarry where these pukao were carved from red scoria. End your day at Tahai, a restored ceremonial complex with standing moai, ideally situated for photos and sunset views in the evenings.
After a busy first day, return to the hotel and overnight.
After breakfast at the hotel in Hanga Roa, head out for a day exploring the traditional sites of Easter Island with your guide. The day will includes visits to some of the top historical sites on Easter Island, including Anakena Beach, Tongariki and Ranu Raraku. Start the day off at the unrestored site of Ahu Vaihu to see moai statues lying face down, offering a clear view of what many sites looked like before restoration. It is believed that these statues fell in ancient times and have remained where they lie until the present day. Enjoy the quiet of Ahu Vaihu before heading on to some of the more frequently visited sites. Next up, visit Akahanga, believed to be the burial site of the famous King Hotu Matua, the first settler of Easter Island, where moai remain in both standing and overturned positions.
Continue to Rano Raraku, the volcanic quarry where most of the island’s moai were carved. Dozens of unfinished statues remain on the slopes, providing a close look at how these giant figures were created. Next, explore Ahu Tongariki, the largest ceremonial platform on the island. The statues here have been extensively restored, allowing a glimpse of what the moai looked like in their original formation. Afterward, visit Ahu Te Pito Kura, home to the tallest moai.
Conclude the day at Anakena Beach, a white-sand beach framed by palm trees. Visit Ahu Nau Nau, known for its well-preserved moai with detailed carvings and pukao. Enjoy time to relax or take a swim in the Pacific before returning to your hotel. In the early evening, experience a sunset picnic at Tahai and watch the dramatic and picturesque sunset behind the moai while toasting sparkling wine and enjoying snacks to end your day. Return to the hotel and enjoy dinner independently at your leisure.
*Please note: the order of sites visited today may vary to best enjoy each location.

This iconic landmark on Rapa Nui offers a powerful introduction to the island’s heritage. After sunrise, return to the hotel for breakfast and rest from your early morning.
After a brief rest, join a shared boat and snorkeling tour to Motu Nui, a sacred islet off the coast of Hanga Roa. The 2-hour tour includes a scenic ride along the coastline, passing the sea caves of Mataveri and offering views of Ahu Tahai and the cliffs of Orongo, site of the ancient Tangata Manu (birdman) ceremony.

Ride across open landscapes and stop at key cultural sites, including Moai a Moeto, Maitaki te Moa, Omohi, and Papa Aringa (also known as Hera Moai). Along the way, view traditional elements such as ancient boat houses, chicken coops, and petroglyphs, offering a deeper understanding of Rapa Nui history.

Our guide and driver were very good with their knowledge and were very helpful with our questions. It was a very pleasant visit that would have been impossible to do on our own. Hotels and restaurants were fantastic. The special places we got to go to, like the kitchens, were great. Enjoyed the entire trip!
