San Pedro de Atacama is considered the Archaeological capital of Chile due to humans who settled in the region 12 thousand years ago. During this archaeological tour, visit Pukará de Quitor, a fortress built by the aborigines in the 12th century to defend against possible enemy attacks by foreign invaders or frontier natives. Stop at Aldea de Tulor, an ancient village complex and the oldest archaeological site in the region, it was occupied between 300 BC and 500 AD. Excavations in the region carried out by Father Le Paige uncovered a collection of important pieces of pottery and mummies that contributed to the creation of the Archaeological Museum, your final stop. The museum gives you a glimpse into the different evolutionary stages of the Atacameña culture.

We are so glad that we chose Adventure Life. The service is top-notch. Everything is well taken care of and we just have to print the documents and go. Franny even gave us timely updates on possible airport strike.
