Day 1: Astronomical Tour

After a slow-paced afternoon in San Pedro de Atacama, transfer is provided to a remote stargazing site located away from town lights. This area is known worldwide for its clear skies and dry air, offering some of the best conditions for night sky viewing.

Begin the evening with an introduction to both modern astronomy and Andean sky traditions. A bilingual guide explains how early Andean communities studied the sky and how this knowledge shaped farming, buildings, and daily life. Around a fire, hear stories, myths, and beliefs passed down through generations. The experience also includes time for naked-eye observation of constellations and moon phases, followed by guided use of a telescope to view stars and galaxies up close.

Beyond expectations! Then again we weren't sure what to expect. Lovely stay at the lodge, met other like-minded travelers (many had their trips planned by Adventure Life) and the owner was a gracious hostess. It felt like you were one happy family, visiting with a favorite aunt.
