Enjoy a leisurely breakfast at your hotel this morning, before being picked up and transferred to the Sky Tram gondolas. Enjoy a slow ride up the mountainside, taking in amazing views on the way, as well as keeping your eyes peeled for wildlife. You are accompanied by a bilingual guide who will point out flora and fauna and tell you about the unique ecosystem. At the top, enjoy magnificent views of volcanoes and Lake Arenal from the observation deck. You can spend some time exploring the top area before descending down to the base. One option is to ride back down the tram, but the more exciting option we will try is the zipline canopy tour. Enjoy a thrilling ride as you zip on cables running across two mountains all the way to the bottom!
After breakfast, spend the morning looking for a variety of bird species on your hike through the Selvatura Park in the Monteverde area. The hanging bridges tour consists of 8 bridges, ranging from 150 to 510 feet long. High above the cloud forest floor, you can see the flora and fauna below and the variety of plant life that exists here. As you make your way on this two mile hike, your guide will point out an array of bird life that make their homes in the cloud forest. You have a chance to see unique bird species such as the quetzal, toucan, wood creeper, flycatchers, orioles and grosbeaks. With any luck, you may see the three-wattled bellbird.
After a leisurely breakfast this morning your guide will pick you up and transfer you to Rincon de la Vieja National Park. This national park is considered one of Costa Rica's finest hidden treasures. Its andesitic stratovolcano is alive and active, one of five in the Guanacaste mountain range. This volcano, while remote, is highly accessible to travelers and rich in vistas and ecological wonders. Beyond expectations! Then again we weren't sure what to expect. Lovely stay at the lodge, met other like-minded travelers (many had their trips planned by Adventure Life) and the owner was a gracious hostess. It felt like you were one happy family, visiting with a favorite aunt.
