Hvar Croatia Travel Guide

Highlights of Hvar, Croatia

There's so much to do on the exciting, sun-kissed Hvar Island in the Adriatic's Dalmatian Coast. You'll want to do it all, but you probably won't have time, so consider one of these exciting ways to explore the island:

  • Walking tour of Hvar, visiting the Franciscan Monastery built between 1461 and 1471, the Cathedral of St. Stephan, the Benedictine Monastery, the Arsenal (an imposing building built in 1611).
  • Hvar 4x4 Adventure: Visiting Malo Grablje (a small village abandoned decades ago), Velo Grablje and Vidikovac, offering a perfect view of the deepest bay on the island, the highest peak of the island - Saint Nicoleas- offering a 360-degree view of the islands of Brac, Korcula, and Vis, vineyard-covered hills, olive groves, and undulating fields of rosemary and lavender.
  • Hiking tour using part of the old trail, which in medieval times used to be a main road connecting Hvar with Starigrad on the north side of the island. Head to Milna, where your walk ends.
  • Visit Croatia's oldest town, Stari Grad.
