Flores - Montericco

Since this trip was actually a 40th birthday trip for my significant other, we decided to end the experience with some relaxation time. Unfortunately, on this long day of travel, my partner acquired a bit of whatever bug I had the day before (I felt great, finally!). Travel days are the absolute worst days to fall ill so this day was long and tiring but we made it. After a 40-minute flight back to Guatemala City, we were met by the familiar and friendly faces of our driver and friends. They swept us away to the pacific ocean beach of Montericco, where we would spend the next few days relaxing before our journey home. 

Once we arrived at our hotel, we learned that this hotel was truly one of the only ‘4-star’ options (though I would put this more at a 3-star level) in this area. I know, because I ventured out this afternoon with my Guatemalan colleagues to do a few hotel inspections. Small, quaint, and filled with local vacationers, we made the right choice at the Cayman Suites. We had friendly service,  a nice pool with a swim-up bar, and after a bit of negotiation, a suite with a terrace. The beach and the Pacific ocean were just outside the hotel grounds and we had an incredible sunset each night.
