Embark L'Austral to discover Indonesia - an inexhaustable source of natural resources and a fascinating mosaic of ethnic groups and cultures. Spend 11 days among this magnificent archipelago of 18,000 islands. Visit legendary sites like Krakatoa, Indonesia's most famous volcano; the Prambanan Temples, the largest group of Hindu sanctuaries in Indonesia; and end your trip in Bali, "The Island of the Gods," whose charm and treasures never fail to enchant travelers.
Involves minimal physical effort and is typically associated with leisurely activities. Activities are low-intensity or last less than a few hours each day.
Arrive in Singapore and embark your ship, L'Austral between 4 and 5 PM. Settle in to your cabin and familiarize yourself with the ship and her crew.
Day 2: At Sea
As your ship sets sail to the Indonesian island chain, continue to acquaint yourself with the ship and her amenities.
Day 3: Sailing along Krakatoa
Spend today on deck with you camera on hand - you won't want to miss the views of this incredible volcano! Krakatoa is a volcanic island, whose most remarkable eruption occurred in 1883 and is still among the most violent eruptions on record. Situated between the islands of Java and Sumatra, Krakatoa offers and excellent starting point for your Indonesian voyage.
Day 4: At Sea
As you continue to sail, enjoy the breeze from on deck and keep an eye out for marine- and bird-life that may be following in your ship's wake.
Day 5-6: Semarang
From Semarang, choose from two optional excursions. Explore the wonders of UNESCO World Heritage Site, Borobudur, the world's largest Buddhist monument. Join a coach as it takes you inland through Java's dramatic landscapes. Enjoy a buffet lunch of Indonesian specialties and a delightful performance by local entertainers. On your second day in Semarang, join a tour to the Tlogo Agro Highlands where you can observe the coffee-making process from berries to roasted beans. From here, travel to Tuntang for a short ride on an antique steam engine train. Alight at the Ambarawa station and enjoy a scenic drive through the Ungaran highlands.
Day 7: Karimun Jawa
Karimun Jawa is a collection of 27 islands. Their name means "a stone's throw from Java," in the local Javanese dialect. Among the group's 27 islands, 22 were declared a marine reserve in 2001. The designation ensures that marine life in the area is abundant. Details about your excursions here are being finalized.
Day 8: At Sea
Making your way through the Indonesian islands, enjoy this final day at sea and take time to reflect on your journey so far and prepare for the next leg.
Day 9: Teluk Nara
From port in Teluk Nara, join an optional half-day tour to see the highlights and culture of Lombok. Visit the Nusa Tenggara Barat Provincial Museum, which exhibits ancient artifacts and decorative arts from a variety of beautiful and fascinating cultures of the island. Travel to Matara, next to see Banyu Mulek village, known for its handmade pottery. Stop at Lingsar Temple, the most important site for practitioners of Islam Wetu Telu religion. On your way back to the ship, stop at the Senggigi art market. Alternatively, explore Bali's religious past and the verdant beauty of the island's lush countryside on a full-day optional excursion to Puri Taman Sari, a traditional Balinese compound, and on to Ulun Danu Temple. A third optional includes these stops as well as a visit to a spice plantation.
Day 10: Benoa, Bali
Three full-day excursions are yours to choose from as you spend the day on Bali. Join a tour of Mount Batur and its crater lake. Along the way, your coach brings you to the Pura Kehen temple, the Pura Ulun Danau Batu temple, to Kintamani where you can enjoy an Indonesian buffet lunch, and finally to a Balanese house compound.
Day 11: Disembark in Benoa, Bali
Following breakfast, disembark in Benoa. Transfer to the airport for your journey home.

This was my first experience with Adventure Life - and I couldn't have been more pleased with the trip. The guides and local staff in both Buenos Aires and Uruguay were terrific - extremely helpful and accommodating. I really enjoyed meeting the friendly staff in Buenos Aires in person (I left my bags with them for the afternoon).

The response from Adventure Life to my first inquiry was prompt and promising. I worked with Jamie Broeckel, Trip Planner, via text, email, and phone calls- always extremely responsive and thorough with information and explaining the process to arrange a private tour for me to Malaysia Borneo. Within about week, the booking was complete and I made decisions because of Jamie's great customer service , friendly manner, and overall competence on behalf of the company's travel expertise. Now I have an itinerary, additional Trip Planner Assistants, several links for vital information for traveling to Maylasia, etc. Still many details for Sept. trip, but now the heavy lifting is done and I can enjoy the rest of the anticipation and research!! The trip was not only memorable for the amount of animals we saw but also for the people and accommodations at the two camps where we stayed. Our first guide, BK, was a wealth of information about the animals, landscape and down to the plants and what they were used for. Everyday out was a learning experience with him. All the people at the camps were gracious and the food was excellent.
Our second camp in the Okavanga was just as good as the first as far as the staff, accommodations, food and animals. After our experience at the first camp we amazed that the high quality remained the same. Our guide, G, made sure we were able to enjoy every experience including a rush through the bush to witness a cheetah and an ensuing hunt that he heard over his radio.
In both camps there were enough guides out that if they saw something the other guides were informed which helped in seeing as much as possible. It was also nice that the concessions were large enough that we did not have vehicles following each other throughout the day.
Normally there is always something in a trip of this length that we think could be improved upon but this is the rare case where we cannot think of anything. From the time we left the States to when we returned it was one of the most hassle free vacations we took.
Perhaps emphasizing the use of the laundry facilities at the camps would be useful because of the luggage restrictions would be the only thing I can think of as an improvement to future clients.
