After a bit of a break from our mother-daughter trips, we were back at it! I have always wanted to see the Amalfi coast and was excited to find a trip that stayed in one location but still offered a variety of activities that could be enjoyed by both me and my mom. History, beautiful scenery, culture, good food, wine and of course coffee sounds like the perfect trip!
The Corner House Hotel, Gatwick, England (Julia Kocubinski)We had a hard time finding a decent flight itinerary to get us from Montana to Naples that didn’t require overnights or long layovers in each direction. So I contacted Exodus and decided to fly in and out of London, and take the recommended flight from London to Naples with the group. The cost ended up being about the same, and since we arrived with the group, we didn’t have to pay for a transfer to the hotel (about 1.5 hour drive from Naples).
This meant that we had an overnight stay in London on the way to Naples. We decided to just stay near the Gatwick airport in a small inn called the Corner House Hotel. The hotel was lovely, and perfect to relax and catch up on sleep after our overnight flight. Our room was up on the third floor, essentially the attic, but it was quiet and had a great view. After settling in, we walked around and found a place to eat - Ye Olde Six Bells - which was a perfect lunch spot. The pub is believed to have been built about 1450 and is thought to be the oldest surviving building in Horley. It may have started as a hospice and evolved into an alehouse and then a public house and more recently, more of a restaurant. After walking a bit more, we relaxed in our room before having a delicious dinner at the hotel. They arranged for transport to the airport in the early morning and we were off to Italy.
