Moderately active but not overly strenuous. This level includes activities like casual cycling, yoga, or excursions/activities that typically last 3-5 hours total each day.
Start your day with a relaxing boat ride on Nicaragua Lake and some of the islands formed by the imposing Mombacho volcano. Enjoy great landscape views and courses, have a chance to take pictures.
Continue to explore Granada city, which was founded next to the Mombacho volcano and the great lake of Nicaragua. Named after the city of Granada in Spain, this city has plenty of colonial churches, narrow streets, and large homes with beautiful indoor patios, tiled roofs, and colonial colors.
Start your experience with a sightseeing tour and later arrive at the main plaza for a walking tour of the surrounding area. Visit “La Merced” church” and the San Francisco convent to look and take pictures of mysterious idols made by local ancestors.
The last will be the “Chocolate Cooking Class” learn how to roast, winnow, grind, mix, conch, refine and mold.Originated from Central America, this plant has an extraordinary history and, is one of the most important products for the Mayan and Aztec cultures, as well as other Central American cultures. The discovery of America led to the introduction of chocolate in Europe, transforming it into the product we all know today. At Choco Museum, learn and follow all the processes on how to make chocolates from fermented organic cacao beans.
This morning head to nearby Mombacho Volcano, an active volcano that last erupted in 1570. Hop into an army cargo vehicle that takes you up the steep climb on the brick road to the top where you find a small biological station. Feel free to get out and explore the small exhibits in the station. The top part of this volcano is home to a cloud forest, housing some endemic species of flora and fauna only found here. You can walk on the trails watching for wildlife, as well as find some lookouts allowing you to peer over into the now-forested craters below.
On your way down the volcano, stop to take the zip line tour at the base of Mombacho! Zip across this 1500-meter zip line course suspended by canopy platforms. The tour offers fantastic views of the Mombacho cloud forest and the nearby Lake Nicaragua. The course contains fifteen platforms and a 25-meter-long rope bridge!
The hike will be approximately 1 hour and 45 minutes long. You will learn about the flora, the fauna, the ancient people who lived there, and the volcanology of the area. Then, continue your route to San Juan del Sur town.
Today is yours free to enjoy the area at your leisure. You can arrange a surf lesson, do a zip line tour, arrange to go diving, fishing, or sailing, rent mountain bikes, go for a hike, take a horseback ride on the beach, or even go on a nightly turtle watching tour. The hotel can help you arrange many local activities.
After breakfast at the hotel, a private guided transfer from San Juan del Sur to Managua for your Covid Test and transfer to your hotel for last night.
