The Las Vueltas River (Ro de las Vueltas), also known as the Gatica River, is part of the Santa Cruz River Basin. A significant portion of its waters have glacial origins and are fed by streams from the extreme north of Los Glaciares National Park. It rises in Lake Desert (Lago del Desierto) and, as its name suggests, flows through verdant beech trees and sheer cliffs to Lake Viedma. Even getting to where the tour begins is a highlight, walking alongside the famous Chorrillo del Salto waterfall and the Rio de las Vueltas, with Mount Fitz Roy in the distance. 21 kilometers later, you arrive at our destination. When you arrive, you'll be greeted with coffee or tea, whichever you prefer. You'll then be told about the activity and given a chance to try out the equipment you'll need for it. Local people provide suits, boots, neoprene gloves, life vests, and helmets. When you are ready, you'll descend and row 20 kilometers across the river. You'll paddle on Condor Lagoon in a few minutes. Return to Las Vueltas River, enjoying the journey, and if the weather is favorable, you'll see Mount Fitz Roy. The guide knows where to stop for lunch, small talk, and riverside relaxation. Finally, get to El Chalten, where you can leave your gear at the Inn Hostera El Puma and change into your own dry clothes.
